Abstract

The background of the research is the lack of student’s math conceptunderstanding and courage to ask to the teachers than to the other students. Theresearch aims to determine whether there is an influence of math conceptunderstanding in applying the Active Learning Strategy of the Learning Cell type.The type of the research is a pre experimental research with pre-test and post-testdesign. The population of the research is the students of VIII grade of PublicJunior High School (SMPN) 2 Lubuk Sikaping, Pasaman Regency. The researchuses a random sampling technique. The instruments used are pre-test and posttestin the form of essay. The technique of data analyzing used is t test. Based onthe finding of the research, the result of data analysis shows that the result of ttest is got the value of t count = 11,91531 and t table = 2,06 because − << . It means that the research hypothesis is accepted. It can also beconcluded that there is an influence of student’s Math concept understanding byapplying the Active Learning Strategy of the Learning Cell type to the student’sMath concept understanding of VIII grade students of Public Junior High School(SMPN) 2 Lubuk Sikaping, Pasaman Regency.
