Tulisan ini bermaksud melakukan eksplorasi terhadap upaya membangun karakter pendidikan perspektif pendidik dan tenaga kependidikan dalam budaya masyarakat Banjar. Para ulama, tuan guru, guru, ustaz dan lainnya berperan dalam mengembangkan pola pendidikan sepanjang sejarah masyarakat Banjar. Bangunan karakteristik pendidikan yang terus menerus selalu ada sepanjang sejarah ialah pendidikan keislaman, mengingat Islam merupakan identitas masyarakat Banjar. Penyesuaian dengan tuntutan keadaan selalu menjadi kebijakan pendidikan masyarakat Banjar. Hal tersebut diperkuat oleh banyaknya ulama yang berlatar belakang pendidikan luar negeri yang sangat mempengaruhi modernitas pendidikan di masyarakat Banjar. Sesuai sejarah perkembangan awal masyarakat Banjar, ulama sebagai pendidik sekaligus sebagai juru dakwah merupakan kompetensi ganda bagi pendidik yang seharusnya menjadi karakter pendidik hingga saat ini. Lembaga pendidikan selain misi mendidik juga misi dakwah. Pada situasi tertentu pendidik juga dibenarkan terjun ke dunia politik dengan tujuan utama memperkuat pendidikan masyarakat dan bangsa

Kajian ini membahas tentang penyebaran Islam sejak kerajaan Banjar pada abad ke- 16. Perkembangan Islam di Banjarmasin didukung oleh kerajaan Banjar, yang menganut agama Islam dan memberikan pengaruh kepada masyarakatnya untuk menganut agama Islam. Sultan Suriansyah sebagai Sultan Banjar yang pertama mengupayakan penyebaran Islam dengan pengkaderan ulama, yaitu dengan mengirim Syekh Arsyad Al-Banjary, yang kemudian dikenal sebagai ulama Banjar yang tersohor, bahkan di luar Nusantara. Dengan buku-buku beliau yang ada, ajaran beliau sampai sekarang masih berkembang, ajaran yang dinamis, yang memberikan adaptasi budaya Islam yang sesuai dengan kekhasan corak daerah Banjar yang sangat kaya dan bervariasi.

In the process of transferring knowledge from western country, it is inevitable that the pattern of the way of life and habits such as liberalism, hedonism, materialism, empirical and secular attitude was unconsiously adapted. Eventually, science can take man to be more distant from God as a source of spiritual values that is capable of delivering the ultimate goal of human life in the form of peace and harmony. In fact, science has now shifted so that it led to power fight as wellas mastery of the material competition which sometimes violates the social ethics and religion. A scientist is required to realize the negative values that come with science and make a positive factor combined with positive attitude as a beachhead for research in order to achieve the philosophical meaning of science to have a peaceful and prosperous community.

This paper discusses about the spiritual culture in Kesultanan Banjar seeing from the historical perspective and its relevancy with the life today. The spiritual culture in banjar society can be seen from life cycle since birthday till die. Many of them were modified and fitted with the Islamic teaching. So that, the Islamic dimension is more explicit that the culture one. Kesultanan in varies cultural events ought to make the understanding to the society that Kesultanan Banjar is very concern to the spiritual culture and give the meaning for a material culture developing in many aspect of life. Besides, in any opportunity it may put the strength spiritual culture programm in order to be implemented in many sides of development.Â

Islamic education including socio-humanistic category that can be developed from its epistemology. Education reforms are absolutely necessary because there has been a weakness of good educational philosophy, theory and operations, with the main focus is the reform of insight. This paper examines the epistemological aspects of Islam as a basic step on education reform governance scheme Islamic thought as Theo anthropocentric, appreciate sensory empirical truth, logic, ethics, and transcendental. Application of this epistemology appropriately be able to overcome the problems of education weaknesses. Results of research paper put forward some Islamic education reform paradigm involves understanding the Islamic system; True intentions as a basic motivation; aware of the position of truth, goodness and beauty; embedded core value of the Divine as well as the characteristics of Islamic education; live up to the family as the initial source of truth; develop the total and holistic personality; and the implementation of the Divine in education management.

Culture and education are interconnected. If culture is to be preserved, transformed and transferred from one generation to the next, education in its broader sense is the key process of doing so. Each society or community group has its own culture as its distinctive characteristics. This culture contains values by which members of the society abide. Since the establishment of Banjar Sultanate in 1526, the Banjarese have developed spiritual culture which is reflected in material forms such as in houses shapes, process of cultivating rice in the paddy field, and other daily traditions. Besides, spiritual culture is also manifested in educational institution as well as in the attitude of its educators. As of today, these cultural values are still relevant to be developed, because they may become foundation of social behavior, especially for younger generation who are prone to influences of secularism, hedonism, and pragmatism.
