Abstract

Posyandu lansia is the elderly health care facility that consists of health care activities which aim to achieve a happy old age and useful life. But in practice, there are still some issues that affect low motivation to participate in Posyandu lansia, one of them is the lack of family social support. This research aims to find out the relationship between social supports of family with motivation of elderly to participate in Posyandu Lansia in Tegalsari Jabon Village Mojoanyar District Mojokerto. This research design is analytic by using cross sectional approach. Population is entire elderly in Tegalsari Jabon Village for about 98 people. Then 47 respondents are taken by using purposive sampling. Independent variable is social supports of family and dependent variable is motivation of elderly to participate in Posyandu Lansia. Data were taken using a questionnaire and then processed and analyzed using the Chi square test with SPSS version 16.0 and the results are presented in the form of frequency distribution tables. Results showed the majority of elderly do not have family support in following Posyandu Lansia for about 30 respondents (63.8%) and most of the elderly have low motivation in following Posyandu Lansia for about 22 respondents (46.8%) and there is a relationship between social supports of family with motivation of elderly to participate in Posyandu Lansia in Tegalsari Jabon Village Mojoanyar District Mojokerto, with p (0.042) < α (0.05). Further, families are expected to increase their support for the elderly to participate in Posyandu Lansia. This could be done in the form of increased elderly motoric development by driving to Posyandu, provide time to deliver the elderly, reminds Posyandu schedule, as well as help with the costs to come to Posyandu.Keywords: social supports of family, motivation of elderly, posyandu lansia

Abstract

The aging process is degenerative that will result in physical changes, cognitive, spiritual and psycho-social.The Changes that emerges is a psychological stressor in the elderly that will result in psychological problems such as depression.The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of laughter therapy on the level of depression in the elderly in nursing homes MojopahitMojokerto.The study design that used here is the pre-experiment with design One-Group Pre-Post Test Design.Overall elderly population who live in the orphanage until 44 become the samples of 24 elderly taken by purposive sampling.The independent variable of laughter therapy and dependent one levels on depression in the elderly.The data were taken using questionnaire that is used before and after laugh therapy.After all the data was collected and statistical test was processed followed by a Wilcoxon sign test SPSS17, the results showed Asymp.Sig value (2-tailed) of 0.014 and α of 0.05.Because Asymp.Sig value (2-tailed) <α 0.05 then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, which means there is the effect of laughter therapy on the level of depression in the elderly.In some old depression is a psychological problem that will affect quality of life. Senior citizens are often need to be handling intervention psychological depression. Laughter therapy is an effective therapy because with given therapy laugh citizens can develop ability to communicate and intimacy in relationships with each other to citizens.Keywords: Depression, Elderly, Laughter Therapy, Nursing Home

Abstract

Rheumatism are often seen in the elderly is rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is characterized by inflammation of the common symptoms of pain. Non-pharmacologic treatment that can be used to cope with the pain are Benson relaxation and warm compress. This research aims to prove the different effect of Benson relaxation and warm compress to change the intensity of joint pain in older adults with rheumatoid arthritis in UPT Panti Werdha Mojopahit Mojokerto. In this research design used is Quasy experiment with the approach pre-test post-test control group design. Sample of 18 people were taken by simple random sampling. 9 people from experimental group was given Benson relaxation and 9 people from control group was given warm compress. Collecting data using a pain scale Bourbonais. Paired T-Test shows that p (0.009) < α (0.05), so Ho is rejected it means there are significant Benson relaxation to change the intensity of joint pain in older adults with rheumatoid arthritis. To test the Independent Sample T-Test shows that p (0.176) > α (0.05), so that Ho is accepted it means the average change in pain intensity in experiment group with the control group was significantly the same. In most of the elderly, pain is an problem that will affect the activities of daily activities and quality of life. Chronic pain management often require psychological interventions for elderly. Benson relaxation techniques are passive relaxation techniques is’nt using muscle tension so it is appropriate to relieve pain, because when the muscle tension will increases pain.Keywords: Benson relaxation, Warm compress, joint pain intensity, elderly
