Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan variasi keluasan makna interpersonal pada teks “Laskar Pelangi” berbahasa Indonesia, Inggris, dan Melayu serta faktor-faktor yang mendorong terjadinya tingkat variasi keluasan makna tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan objek penelitian adalah variasi keluasan makna interpersonal yang terealisasi dalam sistem gramatika MOOD pada tiap klusa dari ketiga teks multitranslasi. Data dianalisis dengan teknik hubung banding dengan membandingkan masing-masing klausa dari ketiga teks tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tingginya tingkat variasi keluasan makna interpersonal pada T1:T2, sebesar 23,89, dan rendahnya tingkat variasi tersebut pada T1:T3, sebesar 2,82. Tingginya tingkat variasi disebabkan penambahan klausa pada T2, pengaruh skrip cerita film, faktor tujuan, serta faktor pembaca T2. Rendahnya tingkat variasi disebabkan persamaan akar bahasa dan budaya antara T1 dan T3 serta faktor tujuan penerjemahan. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ THE INTERPERSONAL MEANING BREADTH VARIATIONS ON MULTILINGUAL TRANSLATION TEKS “LASKAR PELANGI” IN BAHASA INDONESIA, ENGLISH, AND MALAY Abstract This study is aimed to describe the interpersonal meaning breadth variations on multilingual translation teks “Laskar Pelangi” in bahasa Indonesia, English, and Malay also to explore the motivating factors that occur inside those variations. This study was a descriptive qualitative research study. The object was interpersonal meaning breadth variations that were showed by the MOOD grammatical system in the clauses of the multilingual translation texts. The data were analyzed by comparing the realization of functional elements of the MOOD grammatical system in each clause of the text. The results of this study show that variations in interpersonal meaning breadth of T1:T2 are high, 23.89 whereas the variations of T1:T3 are low, 2.82. For T1:T2, the variation in interpersonal meaning breadth is high, because of the addition of clauses in T2, the influence of movie script, the translation purpose, and the target text’s readers. Meanwhile, for T1:T3, the variation in interpersonal meaning breadth is low because of the non-existence of new clauses in T2, the same language root of Indonesian and Malay and the purpose of translation. Abstract

This research aims to determine the types of attitudes and their manifestation in Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour album. The data used in this research is song lyrics in the form of phrases, clauses, and sentences. This data was obtained from Olivia Rodrigo’s official account on Spotify. The research method used in this research is descriptive-qualitative. The theory of attitude in this research is from Martin and White. This theory is used to identify the types and the manifestation of attitude in Sour. The results show that three kinds of attitudes (affect, judgment, and appreciation) are applied in the song lyrics. Based on the results, affect is the highest type of attitude found, with 74 frequencies (60.66%). Then, judgment is the second type of attitude that appears a lot with 39 frequencies (31.97%). The last type of attitude is appreciation, appearing at least with 9 frequencies (7.37%). Meanwhile, the manifestation, negative manifestation was the highest with 94 frequencies (77.05%), and the positive manifestation with 28 frequencies (22.95%). Affect is the highest type of attitude found in Sour song lyrics. Since more than 60% of the data is found in the form of expressions of feeling undesired, unhappiness, happiness, dissatisfaction, satisfaction, insecurity, and security. Meanwhile, negative manifestation is the highest type of manifestation found. Since 77% of the data is found in the form of expressions of misery, displeasure, disquiet, undesired, criticism, and condemnation.

Abstract

This paper tries to uncover the practice of hegemony that is experienced by the child soldier. The research will be done by using data from the novel as the main source and supported by the related theories in order to provide well-covered explanation and discussion. This paper uses qualitative research methodology as a systematic strategy. The main focus of this paper is to explore the looking of finding on how the practice is portrayed and displayed. The results show that the leader, Commandant has been practicing a successful hegemony among the children. The child soldier’s behavior and attitude are also changed. These innocent children turned into a bunch of cruel and inhumane individuals and would always obey Commandant's orders.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of Game-Based Learning (GBL) to enhance speaking skills and vocabulary acquisition among young EFL learners at Domby Kid’s Hope 1, Yogyakarta. The problem addressed in this study is the low motivation and limited active use of English, particularly in speaking. To address this issue, GBL was implemented through activities like Duduk Senang and Animal Guessing, designed to increase student engagement and reduce anxiety when speaking. The method used was a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through pre- and post-tests, classroom observation, and reflective evaluation. The results showed that GBL successfully improved students' ability to recognize and use English vocabulary related to numbers and animals, as well as increased their confidence in speaking. All students showed significant progress after engaging in GBL activities. The implications of this study suggest that GBL can serve as an effective and enjoyable alternative to traditional language teaching, especially in non-formal education settings, and can contribute to the development of more engaging language teaching methodologies for young learners. === Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi penerapan Game-Based Learning (GBL) dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dan penguasaan kosakata pada pelajar bahasa Inggris usia dini di Domby Kid’s Hope 1, Yogyakarta. Masalah yang dihadapi adalah rendahnya motivasi belajar dan keterbatasan dalam penggunaan Bahasa Inggris secara aktif, terutama dalam berbicara. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, GBL diterapkan melalui aktivitas permainan seperti Duduk Senang dan Tebak Hewan, yang dirancang untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dan mengurangi kecemasan saat berbicara. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui tes awal dan akhir, observasi, serta evaluasi reflektif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa GBL berhasil meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam mengenali dan menggunakan kosakata bahasa Inggris terkait angka dan hewan, serta meningkatkan rasa percaya diri dalam berbicara. Semua siswa menunjukkan kemajuan signifikan setelah mengikuti aktivitas GBL. Implikasi dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa GBL dapat menjadi alternatif yang efektif dan menyenangkan dalam pengajaran Bahasa Inggris, terutama di lingkungan pendidikan non-formal, dan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan metodologi pengajaran bahasa yang lebih menarik bagi pelajar muda.
