Abstract

One of the schools that has attempted to make the student council active and the primary platform for student development to encourage student activities at school is SMK Negeri 1 Rembang. OSIS administrators can execute numerous labor programs in both academic and non-academic domains. Participants must pass several selection processes to join the SMK Negeri 1 Rembang OSIS board. This student council board's election procedure still employs manual methods. The selection procedure may take longer and allow for subjective evaluations depending on the number of candidates and the criteria used. As a result, it is essential to develop a decision support system (SPK) that uses Rank Order Centroid (ROC) weighting and the Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique Exploiting Rank (SMARTER) method to help choose student council administrators. The SMARTER technique addressed disproportionality because the weights assigned do not provide a hierarchy or order of importance between the current criteria and their sub-criteria. Based on the computation of the final value of the standards and sub-criteria on each alternative, the system produces results in the form of the biggest to most minor order. Blackbox testing of this program demonstrates that it can operate and be used at SMK N 1 Rembang both in terms of functionality and outcomes from the system.

Abstract

This paper aims to identify the types of deixis and their implications employed by Retno Marsudi’s speech about a new paradigm for the current world crisis during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in September 2022. The researchers employed qualitative descriptive methods to answer the aims of the study. The steps conducted were finding and downloading the video of speech delivered by Retno Marsudi at the UNGA in September 2022 on YouTube, transcribing the speech delivered in the video, collecting the deictic expressions present in the speech transcription, classifying the categories of deictic expressions, and lastly interpreting the purpose of the deixis use according to the content of the speech. The findings indicate that the most used deixis in Retno Marsudi’s speech is Time deixis with 67 occurrences, followed by Person deixis with 55 occurrences, Discourse deixis with 22 occurrences, Social deixis with 5 occurrences, and Place deixis with 1 occurrence. The findings show different outcome with the previous studies concerned with speeches or lectures. It can be implied that Marsudi mostly employed Time deixis because she wanted to emphasize the urgency of her proposed solutions to overcome the world crisis. Furthermore, she wanted to take the audience into thinking about past events as lessons, the current situation as facts happening today worldwide, and the future positive possibilities if Indonesia’s proposed paradigm could be implemented. Hopefully, this paper could help readers to understand the use and implications of deictic expressions found in Marsudi’s speech related to the context.

Abstract

Many teachers still find difficulties in practicing the paradigm of Kurikulum Merdeka, specifically regarding assessment. Several studies have identified the relationships between teachers’ assessment literacy and their practices. However, investigation into those two fields according to the Kurikulum Merdeka are still scarce. Therefore, this study attempts to explore the EFL teachers’ assessment literacy in practice regarding the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka, as well as the challenges and institutional support for teachers. The study employs qualitative design in form of exploratory case study basing on Xu and Brown’s (2016) model framework of teacher assessment literacy in practice (TALiP). Three teachers and principals were involved as the main participants. This study found mixed findings for each aspect of TALiP and there was connection between teachers’ conceptions, knowledge, and practices of assessment. Teachers were found to have implemented the assessment as instructed in the Kurikulum Merdeka, although not yet optimal. Furthermore, contextual factors affecting the practices were mainly in form of external factors, such as time constraint, excessive workload, and diverse students. Therefore, schools have attempted to provide supports by promoting professional development program, optimizing school community of practice, developing communication and collaboration, building reflection culture, and increasing teacher as well as student motivation. The findings of this study are expected to provide inputs for educational stakeholders in order to find solutions for better implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka, especially in the language assessment field in a larger context.
