Abstract

One of the ornamental fishes which has a fairly good development prospect is zebra fish (Branchyndanio rerio). In the maintenance of zebra fish is needed special treatment in handling the fish larvae. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of natural feeding on the Tubifex sp. silkworm to increase the length and weight of zebra fish larvae. This study contained 2 treatments, namely treatment A (feeding pellets in the morning and evening) and treatment B (feeding the Tubifex sp. silkworm in the morning and evening). Each treatment was carried out with 3 replications. Pellet feed and Tubifex sp. silkworm were given each ad libitum for 30 days. The results of this study showed that the percentage of fish seed increase in treatment B experienced a significant increase rather than just given pellet feed (Treatment A). For 30 days, the natural feeding of the Tubifex sp. in the morning and evening, fish larvae experienced a length increase of 13.78% and weight of 106.48%. This result is very different from fish larvae which were only given pellet feed in the morning and evening, which is only 12.31% for their weight and their length is fixed. The conclusion of this study is the natural feeding of Tubifex sp. have a significant effect on the length and weight of zebra fish larvae

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim to evaluate the performance of blood glucose of brek fish (Puntius orphoides) in response to stocking density stress. Fish weighing an average of 2.21 g with a weight of 27 individuals were given stocking density stress by inserting them into 9 cylindrical containers of 200.96 cm2 width and 3 L volume of peat water with stocking differently for 72 hours. These stocking density treatments are A (2 fishes/0.02 m2), B (3 fishes/0.02 m2) and C (4 fishes/0.02 m2) with three replicates. Blood glucose collected from 1 fish per container at 72 hours. The preliminary test was conducted to determine the oxygen demand of fish through the oxygen consumption level test which can then be calculated oxygen demand from the fish in accordance with the density used. The average value of blood glucose levels of brek fish that were given the stress of stocking density 2 fishes / 0.02 m2, 3 fishes / 0.02 m2 and 4 fishes / 0.02 m2 tends to be low, that is 53 mg / dL, 52.67 mg / dL and 49.33 mg / dL respectively. The response of blood glucose to stocking density stress results in stocking recommendations for culture brek fish ranging from 100-200 fish / m2.

Abstract

Disolved oxygen plays an important role for fish living in its life environment. Information on the ammount of oxygen consumption of a fish in certain volume of water is needed in order to give balancing between the ammount of disolved oxygen and fish in it. The objective of this research is obtaining oxygen consumption level of a juvenile of brek fish (Puntius orphoides) of 5-7 cm body length. Oxygen consumption of fish was measured using a tube that equiped with DO tool (dissolved oxygent, DO), and the tube was filled by fresh water. Measurement of oxygen consumption of juvenil was done by measuring the concentration of dissolved oxygen from fresh water in the respirometer tube, began when fish had entered into the respirometer tube up to two hours observation. The result showed that oxygen consumption rate a juvenile of brek fish (Puntius orphoides) of 5-7 cm length, is ranging between 0.816 and 1.734 mg/hour.
