Abstract

This study aims to determine the suitability of using cocopeat as planting media at transplanting containers in the polytube of the cempaka seedlings growth.  The method used in this research was implementing a trial use of cocopeat as transplanting media in the polytube and being compared to the growth of cempaka seedlings in polytubes and polybags containing topsoil.  The parameters observed included percent survival (%), height (cm), and diameter (cm) of the plants.  Through the t-test it was shown that the parameters of diameter, height, and percent survival of the cempaka seedlings using cocopeat as a transplanting media were significantly different than those using top soil as a transplanting media.

Abstract

Fulfillment the needs of Red Jabon (Anthocephalus macrophyllus (Roxb.) Havil) seeds on the other hand can create an unbalanced ecosystem. The availability of red Jabon seed was becoming a source of food for pests, then it causes an explosion of pests and pathogens. The disease that most often affect red Jabon seeds, both in the nursery and in the field was red leaf spot (antraknose). The initial step to control red leaf spot disease is the identification of causing. Identification method performed by observation of the symptoms in the field, followed by microscopic observation in a laboratory. Based on the identification result, it was known that the disease caused by the fungus Cercospora sp., Colletotrichum sp. and Pestalotia sp. The effect caused by those fungal pathogens was the disruption of the photosynthetic process that ultimately inhibits the growth of red Jabon seeds. The controls which have been done are arranged the watering intensity, isolated the infected seed, and  applied the chemical fungicide.

Abstract

Vocational High School (SMK) is an educational institution that specifically aims to prepare students to be ready for work, either working independently or filling existing job vacancies. Appropriate learning can improve vocational students 'skills and vocational school students' readiness in entrepreneurship. This study aims to 1) produce a Precondition Model for Industrial Work Practices based on project-based learning to improve competency and work readiness of vocational school students in the Dressmaking expertise program. 2) to analyze the feasibility of the Preconditioned Industrial Work Practice Model based on project-based learning to improve the competence and work readiness of the Vocational School students in the Fashion Design expertise program 3) knowing the practicality of the Precondition Model for Industrial Work Practice based on project-based learning to improve competency and job readiness of vocational school students. Dressmaking expertise program Fashion. This type of research is development research (R&D) with a development model adapting to ADDIE development. The instruments used in this study were 1) Feasibility Assessment Sheet for the Precondition Model Model for Industrial Work Practice based on project-based learning 2) Practicality questionnaire for the Precondition Model for Industrial Work Practice based on a project-based learning 3) Evaluation sheet for evaluation of the effectiveness of project-based learning based on basic competency analyze the hemispheres in a product. The data analysis used in this study was (1) the scoring category to determine the level of feasibility of the Preconditioned Fieldwork Practices model based on project-based learning to improve the competence and readiness of vocational students in entrepreneurship in the Dressmaking expertise program. (2) to determine the level of practicality of the Preconditioning Practical Fieldwork model based on project-based learning using a Likert scale (3) N-Gain and the N-Gain difference test using the t-test, to determine the effectiveness of the Preconditioned Fieldwork Practices model based on project-based learning to improve the readiness of vocational high school students in entrepreneurship in the Dressmaking expertise program. The results of this study indicate that the assessment of the first validator and the second validator obtained criteria very worthy of use and based on the effectiveness test in the experimental class obtained effective and significant values to increase the readiness of junior high school students in entrepreneurship.

Abstract

Cempaka (Elmerrillia sp.) is a type of woods that has a close attachment to the culture of the Minahasa community because it is used in the making of traditional houses. The supply of cempaka wood raw materials has become increasingly limited because its existence has diminished. One of the things that can be done to support the preservation of cempaka is with the dissemination through training in cempaka planting techniques. This study aims to evaluate the training activities of cempaka planting techniques based on The Four Levels theory developed by Kirkpatrick at level I and II. Data collection was carried out by interviewing all training participants from 3 (three) districts (Minahasa, North Minahasa, and South Minahasa) with 15 participants in each district. Data for evaluation at level 1 were tabulated and then analyzed descriptively. Evaluation at level 2 is carried out by comparing the results of the pre-test and post-test questionnaire using the corresponding sample t test. The results showed that the training in cempaka planting techniques was carried out well (level 1 evaluation). The training was able to increase participants' knowledge which was marked by an increase in the value of the evaluation results from the questionnaire before and after the training by 22 percent in the Minahasa District; 20 percent in North Minahasa District, and 13 percent in South Minahasa District (level II evaluation).

Abstract

Cempaka wasian is a type of woody tree which has a substantial historical value associated with the local culture of the Minahasan people. The improvement of cempaka wasian plantation is essential due to their enormous importance and usage. This study aims to discover the impacts of duration, storage room, and containers used for the appropriate storage of cempaka wasian seeds. The design used in this study is entirely randomized design organized with a factorial pattern which consists of 3 factors; 1) storage duration, 2) storage room and 3) storage containers. Duration of storage was 2, 3, 4, and 5 months; meanwhile, storage rooms comprised of refrigerators, chambers, and air-conditioned room. Moreover, storing containers consisted of calico cloth, aluminium foils, and plastic bags. The study finding indicates that the seeds of cempaka wasian could still germinate if stored for five months by using plastics bags inside refrigerators. A significant provision of seeds and suitable timing are closely related to the proper seed storage techniques.
