Abstract

The aim ofthis research is to find out the translation strategies by examining twonovels, which are "Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk" by Ahmad Tohari and the Englishtranslation version "Dancer" by Rene T.A. Lysloff. The writer uses a descriptivequalitative as the research method because the result ofthe analysis are concernedwith providing descriptions of phenomena that occur naturally, without theintervention ofan experiment. After classifying the data based on its strategies,this research shows that there are eight strategies which are used by the translatorto translate the cultural words. From eighty seven data (sentences that containingthe cultural words) which are identified, there are 15 cultural words (17,24%) byusing general words, 17 cultural words (19,54%) by using cultural substitution,18 cultural words (20,69%) by loan word or loan wordplus explanation, 27 culturalwords (31,03%) by descriptive equivalent, 4 cultural words (4,60%) byfunctionalequivalent, 2 cultural words (2,30%) by literal translation, 2 cultural words(2,30%) by naturalization, and 2 cultural words (2,30%) by omission.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis metafora yang terkandung pada lirik lagu Ebiet G. Ade di dalam lagu seri Camelia dan mengetahui jenis metafor yang terkandung pada lirik lagu Ebiet G. Ade di dalam lagu seri Camelia. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif karena data yang digunakan berupa kata dan frase bukan berupa angka-angka. Sedangkan metode yang digunakan adalah metode simak dan catat. Setelah mengklasifikasikan data berupa lirik yang mengandung metafora dalam lagu seri Camelia. Peneliti menemukan 44 metafora yang dirinci sebagai berikut: 12 Metafora dalam lagu Camelia I, 6 Metafora dalam lagu Camelia II, 8 Metafora dalam lagu Camelia III, dan 18 Metafora dalam lagu Camelia IV. Sedangkan dari 44 metafora yang telah dirinci tersebut, terdapat 26 metafora hidup (Living Metaphor) di antaranya: senja hitam, batu hitam, hati membatu, membebaskan nasib, belenggu sepi, Camelia, kembang terakhir, seribu bayang dll, dan 18 metafora mati (Dead Metaphor) di antaranya: ujung pematang, tidur panjang, titik embun, puisi dan pelitaku, gugusan hari, padang ilalang dll.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mencari tipe-tipe dari campur kode (code mixing) yang digunakan dalam ujaran Dodit dalam stand up comedy dan untuk menemukan alasan penggunaan campur kode (code mixing) dalam ujaran yang dilakukan oleh Dodit dalam stand up comedy. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif karena data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa kata, frasa, dan klausa bukan angka-angka. Sedangkan metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode simak dan catat. Setelah mengelompokan data ke dalam bentuk kata, frasa, dan klausa yang mengandung campur kode dalam ujaran yang dilakukan oleh Dodit dalam stand up comedy, peneliti menemukan 38 data untuk campur kode yang terbagi menjadi 23 kata (words insertion), 4 frasa (phrases insertion), 1 klausa (clause insertion), 8 hibrid (hybrid insertion), 2 pengulangan kata (repetition insertion), dan 1 idiom (idiom insertion). Sedangkan alasan yang sering muncul dalam penggunaan campur kode yang dilakukan oleh Dodit adalah ketidaksengajaan, penyesuaian diri, tujuan tertentu dan terakhir adalah penyampaian pemikiran.

Abstract

The problem of this reseach is what are the types of archetypes found in Joe Goldberg as the main character in the novel titled YOU meanwhile the purpose of this research is to find out the types of archetypes which are found in the main character namely Joe Goldberg used the theory of collective unconscious by Carl Jung. This research used qualitative method in analyzing the data because it consists of words, pharases, and clauses not in numbers. The result of this research showed after the researchers classifying forty three data which are taken from novel, it is found three of eight archetypes namely thirty three data of Persona, nine data of Shadow, and one datumof Hero that appear in the main character of Joe Goldberg.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to describe the types of hyperbole found in Melanie Martinez's K-12 and to find out the most dominant type of hyperbole found in Melanie Martinez's K-12. Claudia Claridge's Hyperbole theory is used to analyze the type of hyperbole meanwhile descriptive qualitative method is used for the method of the reseach. After classifying and analyzing the data, it is found45 data of hyperbolic expressions which are categorized into seven categories namely single-word hyperbole, phrasal hyperbole, clausal hyperbole, numerical hyperbole, superlative hyperbole, comparison, and repetition. At the end of analyzing, clausal hyperbole is found as the most dominant type of hyperboleused.

Abstract

This research focuses on analyzing imagery and connotative meaning found in song lyrics of Taylor Swift’s Folklore. The aims of this research are to find out the types of imagery used in song lyrics of Taylor Swift’s Folklore also to find out the types of connotative meaning from the imagery found in song lyrics of Taylor Swift’s Folklore. This research analyzed the seven types of imagery utilizing Thomas R. Arp and Greg Johnson’s (2017) theory and will go in-depth analyzing its meaning by using the three types of connotative meaning proposed by Riebs & Reeves’s (2005). The research method used in this research is a qualitative method. From this research, out of 138 data the researchers found all 7 types of imagery used in the lyrics of Taylor Swift’s Folklore. Those seven types of imagery are visual imagery (50 data), auditory imagery (11 data), olfactory imagery (1 datum), gustatory imagery (1 datum), tactile imagery (7 data), organic imagery (25 data), and kinesthetic imagery (43 data). The researchers also found there are 3 types of connotative meaning used in imagery found from the lyrics of Taylor Swift’s Folklore. Those three types of connotative meaning namely positive (47 data), negative (66 data), dan neutral (25 data).
