Abstract

Pondok Mburi Wong Bodho is a rehabilitation cottage and also accommodates all people who experience problems in their lives, Gus Khoiri is the caretaker of Pondok Mburi Wong Bodho who directly guides the students with advice and activities which encourage goodness. The principle that is built in the cottage is "Golek Oh Pengweaan" the students are required to look for activities that are useful for themselves in this case the students are always given direct direction by Gus Khoiri with direct guidance so the students will slowly find the character in him each. The research used in this study is qualitative, the design used is phenomenology, the techniques applied are field notes, interview transcripts , and documentation and empirical data that have been obtained, in carrying out data techniques the researchers took data by observation, interviews and also documentation about Pondok Mburi wong Bodho. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the process of internalizing the value of tasamuh in character building through daily activities, the results of the formulation: weekly activities and annual activities, in carrying out the approach the caregiver uses an approach by understanding the nature, character and character of students, the results of the formulation. The values formed include the value of sincerity, the value of mutual respect, the value of mutual cooperation, the value of honesty, the value of togetherness and the value of mutual respect for differences.

Abstract

Moderate Islamic education is absolutely necessary in religion and the state, especially as an effort to prevent acts of radicalism which are currently increasingly disturbing the nation and state. This research aims to find out and examine the contribution of moderate Islamic education in preventing radicalism. The purpose of this research is to contribute to efforts to prevent radicalism through contributing to moderate Islamic education in Jatimulyo village. Dedang and providing motivation to the community that through moderate Islamic education, acts of terrorism and radicalism will be suppressed at their roots.This research is qualitative research using descriptive methods carried out by the Jatimulyo Village Office. The findings is research show that the contribution of moderate Islamic education implemented in Jatimulyo village is able to become an example of religious harmony and culture. This can be seen from the establishment of Jatimulyo Village which is surrounded by people of different ethnicities and people with different religions, but remains harmonious and well maintained. Moderate Islamic education in preventing radicalism is implemented by coexisting with society, implementing tolerance and mutual respect, prioritizing deliberation in decision making, prioritizing brotherhood, togetherness and trust, not fanaticism towards one ideology and respecting other understandings, not being authoritarian and not forcing things. which is not obligatory, not arrogant and does not consider other people infidels, habits and rules, emulating the attitudes, behavior of the Jatimulyo village elders who initially built Jatimulyo village and respect each other.

Abstract

One of the figures who is intent and concerned about expressing moderate Islam is KH. Abdurrahman Wahid. His thoughts and ideas deserve to be interpreted in moderate Islam. Abdurrahman Wahid is a Muslim intellectual figure who comes from an Islamic boarding school environment. One of his ideas is that washatiyah Islam must act moderately and apply justice in national and state abstrack: life as a mandatory condition in efforts to maintain peace in Indonesia in particular and world peace in general. The concept of Washatiyah Islam is important to apply in plural Indonesia as well as to stem the Islamic caliphate movement. He is called the father of national pluralism. This research concludes that Gus Dur's pluralism perspective on religious moderation is that religious moderation is a conception that can build a tolerant and harmonious attitude in order to strengthen national unity and integrity.keyword: Abdurrahman Wahid, religious moderation, pluralism

Abstract

This study explores how moderate Islamic education values are instilled in the daily life of the community in Dusun Ngering, Cerme Subdistrict, Gresik Regency. The research focuses on the strategic roles of two major Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and Muhammadiyah (MD) in facilitating this internalization process. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study desighn, data were collected through direct observation, in depth interviews with local religious figures and community leaders, as well as document analysis. The findings reveal that core values of Islamic moderation such as a balance (tawassuth), justice (i’tidal), tolerance (tasamuh), deliberation (syura), and patriotism (muwathonah) are effectively integrated through religious activities, formal and informal education, and the moral example set by religious activities, formal and informal education, and the moral example set by religious leaders. NU and MD actively guide the community toward an inclusive and peaceful practice of Islam. Nevertheless, the process faces challenges, particularly from digital media influences and cultural shifts impacting younger generations. Overall, the internalization of these values contributes significantly to shaping a religious, open-minded, and socially harmonious community.

Abstract

The notion of radicalism and liberalism that widespread in the globalization era make the Islamic boarding schools need to improve the moderate values. The objectives of this research are to explain the teaching, imitation, and the impact of instilling the moderate values through pesantrenbased education at PP Mambaus sholihin 4 masohi, maluku tengah. The research was field research with qualitative methods. The data collection method was done by interview, observation, and documentation. The results of this research showed that: (1) The internalization through teaching aswaja values, namely tasamuh, tawasuth, tawazun, and amar ma'ruf nahi munkar, in Islamic boarding schools used the method of recitation, lectures, discussion or bahtsul masail as well as using teaching resources and media in the form of turats. (2) The imitation of aswaja values as a method in the internalization stage is done by Kyai, and teachers in daily activities have been taught and exemplified to the students in the form of refraction in the boarding school. (3) The formation of a moderate attitude of santri is the impact of internalizing the values of tasamuh, tawasuth, tawazun and amar ma'ruf nahi munkar, which are internalized in Islamic boarding schools to know who they are by not taking sides with extreme radical or otherwise liberal understandings.

Abstract

Religious values are fundamental in shaping students' character and behavior in daily life. Islamic religious education plays a strategic role in instilling these values, aiming not only to develop students' cognitive abilities but also to internalize faith, piety, and moral integrity. This study explores the implementation of religious values in Islamic education at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Qur’ani Al-Bahjah Blitar. The findings reveal that religious education is effectively integrated through a conducive learning environment, exemplary behavior by educators, structured routines, and consistent religious practices. These efforts contribute significantly to the formation of students' religious character, discipline, and ethical conduct. The success of character development is strongly supported by the synergy among school leadership, teachers, parents, and the surrounding environment.

Abstract

Islamic education in character building of students is integrated in rational and mental movements, namely through changes in the way of thinking, acting, and behaving. The main values ​​that are the basis for character education include faith, noble morals (akhlak karimah), discipline, simplicity, and knowledge. Children who have strong characters tend not to commit negative actions such as bullying, which often occurs in schools and Islamic boarding schools. For example, students who have mental weaknesses are often the target of ridicule, insults, and even physical violence. Therefore, caregivers and administrators of Islamic boarding schools need to take an active role in dealing with this kind of problem. This study uses a qualitative approach with several techniques, such as data collection, data analysis, documentation studies, and direct observation. Informants in this study include the Islamic boarding school, caregivers, ustadz and ustadzah, administrators, and a number of students at the Al Hassan Rembang Islamic Boarding School. The results of the study show the importance of character building in students or students as an effort to prevent bullying behavior. The caretakers and administrators of Islamic boarding schools have implemented several character strengthening steps, including: (1) requiring discipline in attitudes and behavior, (2) teachers consistently providing advice to students, (3) giving sanctions as a form of guidance, and (4) providing motivation to encourage positive development. The prevention strategies for bullying behavior include: (1) applying punishment as a deterrent, (2) getting used to being friendly and polite, and (3) being an example from educators as a good example.

Abstract

Azyumardi Azra was a Muslim scholar born in Lubuk Alung, West Sumatra, on March 4, 1955. He was born to Azikar and Ramlah and was the third of six siblings. He was also a productive writer, producing not only books but also articles published in national and international journals. Many of his writings focus on history and contemporary educational issues relevant to the present time. His brilliant ideas are often used as solutions to various problems in Indonesia. One of his greatest achievements was transforming IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah into UIN Syarif Hidayatullah in 2002, during his tenure as the tenth rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah. In this study, the research problem formulated by the researcher is: How is the concept of contemporary Islamic education analyzed through the thoughts of Azyumardi Azra?This research is a library study, as data were collected using documentation sourced from written works in the literature. The descriptive-hermeneutic approach, using double-movement hermeneutics, is a research method focused on describing and interpreting the meaning of the phenomena studied. In this context, the researcher attempts to gain a deeper understanding of the texts and intellectual context of Azyumardi Azra’s thoughts and their application within the framework of Islamic education in Indonesia. The results of the study show that Azyumardi Azra’s ideas regarding the concept of contemporary Islamic education provide significant benefits to the Muslim community. Important aspects of his thinking include the democratization of education, educational modernization, educational quality, the integration of science and religion, and character education. The relevance of Azra’s contemporary Islamic education to religious moderation lies in its efforts to shape Muslim individuals who understand religious teachings comprehensively, are tolerant of differences, and are capable of interacting positively within a pluralistic society.

Abstract

Religious diversity within the school environment is a social reality that requires a wise and contextual educational approach in order to create a conducive, inclusive, and harmonious learning climate. In multireligious schools such as SMPN 1 Baureno, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) plays a crucial role in instilling moderate Islamic values as a foundation for developing tolerant attitudes, without neglecting the strengthening of students’ religious identity. This study aims to examine strategies for internalizing moderate Islamic values through the PAI curriculum and to analyze the efforts undertaken by the school to maintain the consistency of students’ religious identity amid intensive interfaith interactions. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using the interactive model proposed by Miles and Huberman. The findings indicate that the internalization of moderate Islamic values is implemented through the integration of these values into instructional planning, the application of dialogical and collaborative learning strategies, educators’ role modeling, and the reinforcement of school culture through religious activities and positive habituation. Meanwhile, the strengthening of students’ religious identity is carried out through the deepening of religious creed (aqidah), the provision of worship facilities in accordance with each belief, counseling assistance, and collaboration among the school, parents, and the surrounding community. The findings of this study emphasize that the success of religious moderation education in multireligious schools is largely determined by the school’s ability to maintain a balance between fostering tolerance and strengthening religious commitment. Theoretically, this study contributes to the development of religious moderation studies in the field of education, while practically it offers recommendations for the development of a PAI curriculum oriented toward the formation of religious, moderate, and tolerant character.
