Abstract

Background : Examination of Thorax CT Scan in RSUD Dr.Moewardi is always conducted using bolus triggering technique, where delay of bolus triggering activation done to vary value between 5 - 10 second after contrast media administration using automatic injector with the reason to lessen radiation dose. Purpose of this research is to know influence of  bolus triggering activation delay to radiation dose as well as  to find out  maximal delay value of  bolus triggering activation delay which can be conducted at CT Scan Thorax examination. Methods : This research is experimental method. Data were collected from the observations and the direct examinations on the monitor screen using the CTDIvol dose calculation software. This research is carried out by recording the changes radiation dose value on CTDIvol by changing the value of  bolus triggering activation delay from 0, 2, 4,  6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 second. Data were analyzed using regression test. Results : The result shows that correlation between bolus triggering activation delay towards radiation dose with r = 0,970,  p value < 0,001 and R2 = 0,940. The meaning 94% radiation dose influenced by bolus triggering activation. Delay with regresi equation, Y  = 308,252 - 18,821 DT, showing each every increase of delay bolus triggering activation delay equal to 1 second  will influence to descend dose radiasi equal to 18,821 mGy.Conclusion : Maximum delay to activated bolus triggering is 17 second.

Abstract

Background: CT scans produce the largest dose of radiation compared to other radiology modalities. The parameters for measuring the amount of radiation dose from the CT Scan aircraft are the Computed Tomography Dose Index (CTDI) and the Dose Lenght Product (DLP). One form of Bapeten supervision in controlling radiation protection is to optimize the Diagnostic Raference Level (DRL). At RSUD Ulin Banjarmasin, the CT Scan modality has never been measured for CT Scan dose on CT Scan examination of the Head, Thorax and Abdomen Non Contrast which are the most frequent examinations. Dosage parameters are important to see the values exposed to the patient. The purpose of this study was to determine the amount of radiation dose of patients on CT Scan examination of the Head, Thorax and Non-Contrasting Abdomen. Method: The research design used is quantitative descriptive. The method of collecting data is observational and uses secondary data. Data processing uses the descriptive hypothesis test method one sample t-test, by analyzing the value of radiation dose and comparing the DRL value set by Bapeten as a means to monitor the dose given α=0.05. Results: Dose values for CT Scan of Non Contrast Head 33.90±3.66 mGy for CTDIvol and 933.07±415.63 mGy.cm for DLP. CT Scan Thorax Non Contrast 5.83±1.90 mGy for CTDIvol and 179.80±63.72 mGy.cm for DLP. Non Contrast Abdominal CT Scan 10.88±2.30 mGy for CTDIvol and 528.70±137.75 mGy.cm for DLP. Conclusion: The dose value at RSUD Ulin Banjarmasin in each CT Scan examination of the Head, Thorax and Abdomen Non Contrast is still below the National DRL value set by BAPETEN.

Abstract

Background: Betel leaf oil is a wonderful natural antiseptic. Betel leaf oil is rich in polyphenols, especially chavicol, which can be used to protect against microbe pathogens that cause infection. The cause of the spread of nosocomial infections in radiology can occur using a radiographic cassette. Previous research has found that radiographic cassette contains microorganisms and fungi. Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of using betel leaf oil as a natural disinfection on a radiographic cassette. Method: Quasi-experimental research with pre-test and post-test design designs was carried out by calculating the number of microbes, including Total Plate Count (TPC), Staphylococcus, and fungi. The study on 12 conventional radiographic cassettes was calculated using the swab method before and after cleaning with betel leaf oil. The data were analyzed descriptively to illustrate the rate of decline. Result: The results showed that the percentage rate of decline after the radiographic cassette was cleaned with betel leaf oil was ALT (17.8%), Staphylococcus (57.41%), and fungi (37.21%). Conclusion: Betel leaf oil can be used as alternative natural disinfection on radiographic cassettes, quite effectively suppressing the activity and number of microbes present.
