Abstract

The objective of this research was to identify the growth and yield of sixth-generation (M1V6) of local Samosir shallot, irradiated by gamma. The research was conducted at Rianiate village, Pangururan Samosir district at altitude ± 1164 meters above sea level, which began from July up to October 2016. This study used an augmented design with 8 levels of irradiated dosage (0; 1; 2; 3; 4; 5; 6; 8) Gy. The observes parameters were plant length, number of leaves, number of tillers, bulb number, bulb diameter, bulb fresh weight, and bulb dry weight after twice harvesting. The study result showed that population as a result of dosage irradiation at 5 Gy were significant difference compared to control plant populations with a lower mean value for the plant length, the number of leaves, the number of tillers and fresh weight while on tuber diameter, population of dosage irradiation 8 Gy were significant difference compared to the control population.

Abstract

Decreasing soybean production can not fulfill the needs of soybeans in Indonesia, one of the main causes is the decreasing of agricultural land. To increase soybean production in Indonesia can be reached by expanding the planting area, namely by utilizing the potential land. This research was conducted in the plastic house of Faculty of Agriculture, the University of Sumatera Utara, Medan with the height of place ± 25 meters above sea level from August 2016 until November 2016, using randomized block design with 2 factors of treatment. the first factor is drought stress with 3 levels ie KL 80%; KL 60%; TOS 40% and the second factor is the provision of antioxidants with 2 kinds of salicylic acid and ascorbic acid. The results showed that drought stress treatment significantly affected the number of empty pods per plant.

Abstract

Water plays a major role in the process of rubber plant metabolism. An inappropriate amount of water has a negative impact on the achievement of rubber productivity. The aim of the research was to study the effect of rainfall and rainy day on the rubber productivity in 10, 15 and 20 years old. The research was conducted at Aek Pamienke Plantation PT. Socfin Indonesia (Socfindo), sub-district of Aek Natas, district of Labuhan Batu Utara, Province of North Sumatera from July to August 2017. This study used secondary data available in plantation administration, consisted of rubber productivity data in 2014, 2015 and 2016, whereas rainfall and rainy day monthly data in 2013, 2014 and 2015. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression analysis and correlation analysis. The feasibility regression model was tested with the classic assumption test consists of a normality test, heteroscedasticity test, multicollinearity test, and autocorrelations test by using SPSS v.22 statistical tool for windows. Classical assumption test results showed that the regression equation in rubber plants in 10, 15 and 20 years old have been qualified. The regression analysis showed that rainfall and rainy day variables partially and simultaneously influence unreal with alpha 5% (Sig > á 0,05) to increased rubber productivity in 10, 15 and 20 years old. The result of correlation analysis shows rainfall and rainy day variables have a strong relationship to the rubber productivity, with correlation values of rainfall and rainy days at 0,846.
