Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of implementing the Pomodoro learning technique on students' learning focus in Social Studies. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 60 seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 7 Kota Bengkulu in the 2025/2026 academic year, selected through cluster sampling, with Class VII F serving as the experimental group and Class VII E as the control group. Data were collected using learning focus questionnaires administered as pretests and posttests, supported by observation and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, Levene’s homogeneity test, the independent samples t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The findings revealed that the implementation of the Pomodoro learning technique had a positive and significant effect on students’ learning focus. The independent samples t-test yielded a significance value of 0.001 (< 0.05), while the N-Gain analysis showed a score of 0.66 (moderate category) for the experimental group and 0.12 (low category) for the control group. These findings indicate that the Pomodoro learning technique is effective in improving students’ learning focus in Social Studies
