The territory of Indonesia has geographical, geological, hierarchical and demographic conditions that enable disasters or emergencies, whether caused by natural or non-natural factors. When an emergency occurs, evacuation must be carried out as quickly and effectively as possible to minimize losses. Evacuation Emergency conditions are things that need to be considered by every building manager. However, until now buildings are still often found that are operating but have not met the requirements of building function worthy certificates. The hotel building is one of the buildings that need to be considered is the emergency response system and its evacuation route. The hotel building is a vertical residential building that has many users and activities, so it requires an optimal evacuation route. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of evacuation routes in hotel buildings and recommend proper evacuation routes for a hotel building. A descriptive study was conducted to determine the existing conditions and simulations using Rockwell Arena software to determine the visitor's evacuation speed in hotel buildings. The results of the research and simulation of Rockwell Arena software indicate that the evacuation path in hotel buildings has not been sufficient so that design recommendations are needed to improve the effectiveness of evacuation routes. This research can be used as a reference and consideration for finding out the problems that exist on the evacuation routes in hotel buildings.

One important aspect of hospital buildings is the safety of the occurrence of fire hazards, especially in the fire stairs. The hospital is classified as very crowded because of the large number of inpatients or outpatients who consult at the Malahayati Islamic Hospital or the University of North Sumatra Hospital, both middle and upper-middle class. Because the density level of occupants in hospital buildings is high, it requires a fire ladder that meets the standards, how to apply the fire ladder reliability system and its future recommendations on the Malahayati Islamic Hospital building and the University of North Sumatra Hospital. This study aims to determine the application and analyze the level of reliability of fire stairs in hospital buildings. This study uses data analysis method, namely AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) which is based on very effective research to help solve problems in the fire stairs reliability system in the case study of the Islamic Hospital Malahayati, the level of reliability is sufficient, while the University of North Sumatra Hospital has a very good level of reliability. Several design recommendations were made and tested to increase the reliability of fire stairs at Malahayati Islamic Hospital and the University of North Sumatra Hospital; the results can be improved.

The theater usually has an attractive form to attract the attention of visitors and also has good sound control in the auditorium so as not to cause sound distortion. Performances in Medan are still inadequate to accommodate international performances. Particularly in Medan, the enthusiasm of the community towards art tends to be high, but the facilities of the place lack to accommodate performances. Data collection methods are carried out by collecting primary data through a process of field comparative study and secondary data through literature studies & comparative studies. The design approach used in design studies are analyzing the physical, conditions around the site, potential, the limits that exist on the site, Site and environmental approaches are analysis of site conditions and the best solutions, the user approach is building analysis to meet the need for facilities and quality in accommodating the show, literature studies related to titles and themes and theories that support design ideas. The Metaphor is chosen as a truss design theme to convey the shape of building design by combining metaphorical forms of buildings and the prominence of the same metaphorical theme in the building to those who visit and see buildings to prevent sound distortions by using porous materials. Medan is a big city in Indonesia as a design area with consideration of a strategic location. It is expected that with the presence of this performance center, domestic and foreign tourists and especially Medan people themselves can enjoy the comfort and get to know traditional music and dance in Indonesia.

A conservatory is both a tourism center and a place for plant preservation in which it is considered to be able to respond to both of the problems that Medan is facing, which are lack of feasibility of tourism and green space. With its function, the design aims to improve Medan tourism as well as to provide green space for the local community. The method used in designing this project is data collection through field surveys and literature studies. The location of the project is at Kualanamu Region as the need for the development of a tourism center in Kualanamu district as for the enhancement of the tourism becomes the busiest airport in Sumatera Utara. To reflect the concept of the conservatory, the theme of the project is futuristic architecture. As a large scale glass house, the main problem of the design is how to maintain the air temperature stable inside the building. The idea is to replace the use of glass with ETFE Panel, which is made from plastic and weighing only 1% of the glass. The project site is located near the river to support the green space concept. With various approaches towards design, this project is expected to be able to provide new opportunities for Medan tourism.

Pasar Horas is a traditional market with the most extensive building as a traditional market in Pematang Siantar. Pasar Horas provides all the needs of tools and household materials to meet the community's needs, which makes Pasar Horas an essential role in meeting the community's needs. The impact given by the Pasar Horas building must be considered both on the environment and its users. Pasar Horas itself has fairly bad implications when viewed from the aspect of Sustainable Architecture, such as the wrong direction of building orientation, not eco-friendly materials, inefficient land use, and waste management due to market activities, where Sustainable Architecture itself calls for the negative impact of the establishment of the building is not too big. Therefore, the application of Sustainable Architecture in Pasar Horas buildings is needed so that the negative impact caused by the market on the environment and its users can be minimized, which will later be able to adapt Pasar Horas to the new era and become a traditional market that can compete with modern markets to meet household needs of the Pematang Siantar community.

Indonesia is a maritime nation with the world's biggest archipelago. Despite the fact that Medan, and particularly the Medan Belawan District, played a significant role in Indonesia's maritime history, the district's potential remains unrealized and has not been utilized and accommodated properly. Media is needed to accommodate and educate the public about the importance of maritime knowledge by providing a museum that can function as a place for preserving maritime history. Unfortunately, the interest of the Indonesian people in visiting museums is still relatively low. Therefore, facilities/facilities and infrastructure are needed to support the function of the museum so that it is more recreational but still informative. The Belawan Maritime Museum is located at K.L.Yosudarso Street, Medan Belawan District, and provides information about Indonesian maritime affairs, especially Belawan. The design approach used is the metaphorical architectural approach. The metaphorical architectural theme with the shape of ships and waves applied to the museum is intended to optimize the appearance and marketability of this building. The use of metaphorical themes is closely related to the visual impression and meaning to be displayed in the building. This building is also expected to become an icon in the area. It is hoped that the design of the Belawan Maritime Museum can further increase the interest and insight of the Indonesian people, especially Medan City, about Indonesian maritime affairs and become one of the attractions of Medan City, especially Medan Belawan District, as a tourist destination for local and foreign tourists. Keywords: Belawan, maritime, metaphor architecture, museum
