Abstract

This study aims to provide information on how to adjust to the Lonto Leok student group and also to find out what factors hindered them in their efforts to adjust while studying at Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive approach, The technique of determining the informants used purposive sampling, and data collection was carried out by means of interviews, observation and documentation. The results of this study reveal that in an effort to adjust to Sidoarjo, there are different ways, such as increasing friends, being active in organizations, smiling, being yourself, not being easily carried away by feelings and respecting all differences. In addition to this method, all informants in this study found factors that hindered self-adjustment, these factors were physical factors, development and maturity, psychological, environmental and cultural and religious factors. In addition, language difficulties became the main problem, they found difficulties in the realm of language, all informants also wanted to learn Javanese to make it easier for them in their daily lives. As well as peer support also helps informants in launching their adjustment efforts while on campus.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe communicative events, communicative actions, communicative situations between teachers and students with autism in interacting with the school environment at SLB Aisyiah Krian. The research method used in this research is using qualitative research with an ethnographic communication study approach. The results of the study explain that the Ethnography of Communication in Improving Social Interaction of Children with Special Needs "Teachers and Students with Autism SLB Aisyiah Krian" is to show that in the ethnography of communication communication activities are part of the activities of autistic students while learning at school, which can be seen from several components, namely communicative events seen through the word SPEAKING, communicative actions that are identical to the use of non-verbal communication, and communicative situations, namely the location will be considered the same when autistic students interact with the teacher even though the location changes

Abstract

This study aims to describe and explain the meaning of communicative messages in the ojung tradition in Tongas Kulon Village, Probolinggo. That the local cultural traditions in Tongas village which are often believed to be a prayer to ask for rain. The ancestral cultural traditions that are still closely believed but cannot be understood in terms of the meaning contained therein. This research method is descriptive qualitative using Symbolic Interactionism approach by George H. Mead, with Snowball Sampling technique was used to determine informants. Data was collected was by means of semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation, as well as literature review relevant to cultural traditions. The result of this study indicate that the meaning of communicative messages in the ojung tradition in Tongas Kulon Village, Probolinggo by communicating in the form of symbols on devices that have been interpreted, include: (a) a strong and successful personality, (b) purity of heart in oneself each person, (c) human relationship with Nature and God, (d) beauty and honesty. The communicative message conveyed is also an embodiment of prayer to ask for rain, and mercy and to maintain friendship between residents. The moral message contained is that traditions have ancestral cultural values, with people who respect each other’s ancestral culture in the form of their respective beliefs and beliefs about traditions, as well as prayers and hopes that can be answered. And as a forum for closer friendship between people, so as to create a harmonious life among each other.

Abstract

This qualitative descriptive study aims to examine the communication style employed by Ustadz Abi Azkakia while utilizing the mobile game, Mobile Legends, for dawah (Islamic outreach) purposes on TikTok. By analyzing data gathered from live streaming sessions and video postings on his TikTok account, the author describes Ustadz Abi Azkakia's unique approach to dawah communication. The results reveal the utilization of two communication styles: assertive style (direct eye contact, humor, openness to opinions, expressive) and passive style (limited facial expressions, infrequent eye contact, gentle demeanor). This research sheds light on the innovative ways in which social media, particularly TikTok, can be employed for effective dawah communication, presenting opportunities for the wider Islamic community to engage and connect with a diverse audience. Highlights: The unconventional approach: Ustadz Abi Azkakia's use of Mobile Legends gaming on TikTok as a medium for dawah communication brings a fresh and unconventional perspective to Islamic outreach. Diverse communication styles: The study reveals the utilization of assertive and passive communication styles by Ustadz Abi Azkakia, showcasing the importance of adapting communication techniques to effectively engage with a diverse audience. The power of social media: This research highlights the potential of social media platforms, specifically TikTok, in enabling Islamic scholars to reach a wider and more diverse audience, fostering connections and promoting understanding in new and innovative ways. Abstract

This qualitative research aims to analyze the interpersonal communication patterns in Deddy Corbuzier's podcast, specifically focusing on "Log in Episode 15". The study explores how open communication and appropriate perspectives contribute to effective interpersonal communication. Using a semiotic analysis method, data collection involves observation, relevant previous research, and case studies to strengthen the findings. The researcher examines the signs within the podcast episode and interprets them to draw conclusions. The results depict diverse interpersonal communication patterns influenced by various social backgrounds and held values. This research highlights the importance of understanding and adapting to different communication styles, enabling more effective and meaningful interactions. Abstract

This study concerns the phenomenon of using the online dating app OMI where we can get acquainted and date online. OMI is the latest online dating app, where women and men can do online dating activities through conversations, exploring various friendship relationships, and sexual desires. The theory used in looking at the phenomenon of using the OMI online dating application is Alfred Schutz's Phenomenology. The data mining used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach, which is research that focuses on the use of data that will be described in written and oral form based on the informants studied by conducting in-depth interviews with Generation Z in 1996-2009 in the sidoarjo and Surabaya areas. The results showed that the use of online dating applications aims as entertainment, finding a partner, expanding friendships. Teenagers who use online dating apps have an understanding of online dating through OMI social media as a positive and efficient thing in order to know the good and bad of online app users.

Abstract

The activity of the Enforcer Achievement Competition is to realize creative and highly competitive Sidoarjo scouts. The form of activities of the Enforcer Achievement Competition is the General Competition and Optional Competition. In conducting LPP activities requires good and correct organizational communication. The purpose of this study is to analyze organizational communication carried out in the LPP committee management where the communication can provide reciprocity so that the message is successfully conveyed so that the LPP committee can carry out its duties and achieve common goals. The method in this research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data was collected through interviews conducted with ten informants with the condition that the LPP committee informant. The result of organizational communication research on the management of the LPP committee is that the communication that occurs runs smoothly and effectively. Organizational communication is carried out openly so that all committees can provide ideas or ideas and all committees can work together harmoniously and all LPP administrators can provide information and manage important information in the organization that makes them able to understand the messages conveyed so that they can make decisions together with the LPP committee in order to achieve the desired goals together. The benefit of this research is to improve organizational communication among Sidoarjo DKC Scout administrators in achieving organizational goals.

Abstract

This study discusses the history and development of social exchange theory, focusing on basic concepts such as giving, receiving, and returning. This theory is influenced by various figures, including Marcel Mauss, George Homans, and Peter Blau. Mauss in "The Gift, Forms and Functions Exchange in Archaic Societies" articulates giving as a form of exchange involving obligations to receive, give, and return. Homans in "Social Behavior: Its Elementary Forms" explains social behavior as an exchange of activities and gifts, while Blau in "Exchange and Power in Social Life" analyzes more complex social structures and regulates social power through the exchange process. This study uses a literature review approach to understand the history and development of social exchange theory, as well as to analyze the relationship between social behavior and the social environment. The results of the study show that social exchange theory provides broad insights into how society creates and maintains social organizations through exchange. Thus, this study makes a significant contribution to understanding social exchange theory and its applications in various social contexts.
