Abstract

Roads are a very important need for the community of Mamasa Regency, so research is carried out on the Tetean river stone whether it is suitable for use as pavement for Asphalt Concrete-Wearing-Course mixture. The methodology in this research is to perform a series of tests on the characteristics of coarse, fine aggregate, filler, and asphalt then design the composition of the AC-WC mixture and Marshall immersion test for the characteristics of the mixture. The results showed that the characteristics of the AC-WC mixture using Tete River Stone and styrofoam as added materials through the Marshall test obtained the mixed characteristic values, namely stability, flow, VIM, VMA, and VFB all met the General Specifications of Highways 2018. The effect of adding styrofoam to the mixture AC-WC is able to fill voids in the mixture which makes the voids smaller, making the bonds between the aggregates stronger so that with the addition of Styrofoam the mixture becomes more watertight/resistant to water, weather and traffic loads.

Abstract

Tetean River is a river located in Mamasa Regency, West Sulawesi. In this study, one of the efforts to improve the quality of the AC-BC mixture so that the service life remains stable is by utilizing styrofoam as an additive in the asphalt mixture. Styrofoam is white cork or a type of foam that is often found around in the form of cork that supports electronic goods which has a high economic value because it can be recycled, cheap and practical. Styrofoam is flexible, difficult to decompose, resistant to acids and bases and salts. Styrofoam content used is 0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%, of the asphalt weight. With the aim of understanding the characteristics of the AC-BC mixture using Styrofoam waste added material, to obtain the marshall stability value of the remaining AC-BC mixture and to determine the effect of Styrofoam on the AC-BC mixture. The test carried out was the AC-BC mixture test using the Marshall method (SNI 06-2489-1991). From testing the characteristics of the AC-BC mixture with Styrofoam added 0% - 8%, using the Conventional Marshall test it has met the general specification standards of Bina Marga 2018 and the value of the remaining Marshall stability obtained using the Marshall Immersion test is 96.48%.

Abstract

Laston as a surface layer or as a wear / AC-WC (Asphaltic Concrete-Wearing Course) layer is a pavement layer that is directly related to vehicle tires, a layer that must be waterproof, and resistant to weather. This study was conducted to determine the characteristics of the AC-WC mixture using Mount Bulu Tajongi Stone in East Luwu Regency and Ijuk Fiber as the added material. This research method used aggregation characteristics, filler characteristics, and asphalt characteristics, is a secondary data. Continued with the composition of the AC-WC mixture with fiber. The results of the analysis with the addition of ijuk fiber obtained a minimum stability value of 1000 kg at an ijuk fiber content of 4.77%, and a maximum stability of 1581.13 kg was at a fiber content of 2.20%, the minimum value of VIM was at a fiber content of 12.04%, the minimum value of Flow was at a fiber content of 5.07%, the minimum VMA value at a fiber content of 5.10%, and the VFB value had met the minimum limit of 65% of the fiber content of 0% - 4%. With Conventional Marshall testing, the results of the test object test analysis with the lowest stability value of 5% asphalt content meet the 2018 Bina Marga Specification Standards. So it can be concluded that ijuk fiber is suitable for use as an added ingredient.

Abstract

Marble waste comes from the rest of unused marble stone processing. To reduce marble waste, it is necessary to innovate to use marble waste as a substitute for aggregate on the pavement layer. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of materail characteristics in the AC-BC mixture with the marshall method and the use of marble waste PT. Great Marble Mountain. From laboratory tests for material characteristics, namely aggregate, asphalt and cement, test results are obtained to meet the provisions of Highways. For the composition of the AC-BC mixture, 38.05% coarse aggregate, 50.70% fine aggregate and 6.25% cement were obtained. According to the calculation results, the results of VIM, Stability, VMA, VFB, and Flow tests and SMS have passed the provisions of Highways Specification.
