Abstract

Discourse analysis is a field of study that examines the meanings conveyed by a person's words, sentences, or other utterances, whether they are spoken out or written down. According to Fairclough, discourse has three outcomes. Discourse, in the first place, aids in the formation of social identity and subject position. Both discourses contribute to the formation of interpersonal relationships. Thirdly, discourse has a role in the formation of knowledge and belief structures. Particularly in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Era, when the internet has evolved into one of the most fundamental human necessities, social media development is accelerating. Social engagement takes place not only in person, but also frequently online or virtually. The public is quite fond of a number of social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Tiktok, and others. Keywords: Analysis, Discourse, Social Media

Abstract

The use of social media has now become a way of life. Libraries as institutions providing information services must be able to adapt to this. Currently there are many libraries that use social media, but not many libraries can make optimal use of social media. This study aims to determine the benefits of social media as a medium for disseminating library information, trends in the use of social media in libraries, what social media platforms can be used in libraries and how to optimize the use of social media for libraries. In this study the authors used qualitative methods. The data collection technique is to do a document review or literature review. Optimum use of social media can support libraries in providing the best service to users. Therefore, with the current technological developments, the library must be able to take advantage of the opportunity as well as possible to maintain the existence of the library. Abstract

Library Promotion currently holds custodial (minor) positions in Information Science and Library Education at various universities in Indonesia. So don't be surprised if the production unit, which is then called the library, stagnates and stops working. Developing a blog-based library expands the possibilities of your user base, but using a freeware database is sufficient to become the backbone of your library automation. In the current Development 4.0 era, library promotion through Instagram social media is considered more effective and efficient. Interaction between librarians and users can now take place virtually by utilizing existing information technology. The researchers looked specifically at one account of university libraries: universities. Communicating with users via Instagram is an effective way to advertise in university libraries. This article also describes the forms of interaction provided by the Instagram application and how the UIN North Sumatra Library itself uses the facilities available on Instagram. The data collection method consisted of observing the Instagram account of the North Sumatra State Islamic University Library and conducting a literature review. The results of a survey conducted by the UIN Sumut library utilized all existing facilities on Instagram to promote the library. Libraries use the Instagram Stories feature to upload videos and photos, as well as Instagram Direct to promote their library. Keywords: Library promotion, Social media, Instagram
