Abstract

Cement plug is a method to place plug to a specific depth used cement to close the well, preventing lost circulation, sidetrack at the begining of directional drilling and to provides a place for open hole test. The cement plug methods used in this research is balanced plug method. This research conducted by collecting data on Well X, in the form of well profile data covering casing and tubing dimension. Furthermore, laboratory data for cement and additives are used. Result of research showed that the total volume of cement slurry needed is equal to 29.455 bbl, the number of sack of cement for cementing the open end interval of 81.4 meters is as much 155 sack of cement, and the total volume of fluid required to push the cement slurry into cementing zone is equal 64.15 bbl.

Abstract

Cementing is a process of mixing cement powder, water and additives (cement slurry) which will be pumped into the wellbore through casing into the annulus along the wellbore. Liner is a casing hung onto the casing which has been set before. Before the calculation of cementing materials needed, it is needed to collect X-13 well data, in the form of well profile which is consist of casing and tubing dimension. Furthermore, laboratory data for cement and additives is also used. Based on the calculation, the total volume of cement slurry needed for open end interval cementing is 199.7 bbl, with the amount of cement sack needed is 595.2 sacks. The total solid additives needed is 21426.1 lbs and total liquid additives needed is 1294.542 gallons. The total volume of fluid needed to push the cement slurry into the cementing zone is 251.05 bbl.

Abstract

Cementing is the process of placing the cement suspension into the casing, then it will come out through the bottom of the casing shoe and will flow up into the space between the casing and the formation. In making cement suspension, the properties of the cement must be considered because it will affect the quality of the cement results. This study aims to examine changes in density and free water content of cement suspension as a result of the addition of glucose-based additives. Meanwhile, testing of other drilling cement properties was not carried out. Based on the results of the study showed that the more concentration of additives added to the cement suspension, the cement density value will increase. This will affect the hydrostatic pressure of the drilling cement in the borehole later. Meanwhile, for free water testing, values tend to be stable ranging from 3 – 3.2 cc or 1.2 – 1.28% or below what is allowed.

Abstract

The Salawati Basin is one of the basins located in the western part of the Bird's Head of Papua Island and is estimated to be of Tertiary. This basin was formed as a result of the activity of the Sorong Fault which began to be active since the Early Pleistocene. One of the rock formations that has the potential to become source rock in the Salawati Basin is the Klasafet Formation. The age of Klasafet Formation is between Middle Miocene and Late Miocene, which consists of claystone and limestone. Geochemical analysis is one of the techniques in interpreting the source rock potential. This analysis consists of three parts, namely the analysis of quantity, quality and maturity level of the source rock. From the results of the quantity analysis of source rock for the Klasafet Formation, the Total Organic Carbon (TOC) value ranges from fair to good. The quality analysis shows that the source rock of the Klasafet Formation tends to produce type III kerogen, while the maturity level analysis of the Klasafet Formation is in the immature-early mature zone.
