Abstract

The background of the research is that globalization causes rapid changes in various dimensions in international relations, so that countries in the world absolutely must cooperate between countries. Similarly with countries in Southeast Asia (ASEAN) and China, they believe that international cooperation can provide strength to face regionalism and economic blocs. Therefore they agreed to carry out free trade cooperation ACFTA then inaugurated the free trade of ASEAN and China in January 2010. In November 2018 President Joko Widodo finally ratified the "Protocol to Amend the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Co-operation and Certain Agreements thereunder between ASEAN and the People's Republic of China (2015). ACFTA is an agreement between ASEAN member countries and China to create a free trade area by eliminating or reduce barriers to trade in goods, both tariff and non-tariff, increase market access for services, investment rules and regulations. Even though it's already implementation of the ACFTA is still causing differences of opinion. Many are optimistic about accepting the implementation of ACFTA as something beneficial. However, not a few are also skeptical and pessimistic about the implementation of ACFTA because it is seen as detrimental to Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to examine whether ACFTA benefits or harms Indonesia? from the perspective of neoliberalism. To analyze and answer the formulation of the problem, the author uses the Neoliberalism Perspective. = The results of this study are viewed from the perspective of Neoliberalism, ACFTA has proven to be profitable for Indonesia.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The research background is that with the signing of the ASEAN - China Free Trade Area (ACFTA), ASEAN and China will establish international communication. There is an international communication function for ASEAN and China in the ACFTA. Therefore, researchers are interested in examining the Functions of International Communication for ASEAN-China in the ACFTA in terms of the International Communication Approach, namely the Economic Power Approach. The problem formulation is What are the Functions of International Communication for ASEAN-China in terms of the Economic Power Approach. The research objective is to examine what are the International Communication Functions for ASEAN and China in the ACFTA in terms of the Economic Power Approach. To describe the formulation of the problem, the researcher uses the Economic Power Approach in International Communication proposed by Hamid Mowlana. This type of research is descriptive. Data collection methods use document-based research or internet-based research. Data Analysis Method uses a qualitative data analysis method.The results of this study are the International Communication Function for ASEAN-China in the ACFTA Viewed from the Economic Power Approach, namely First, the International Communication Function for ASEAN is to convey the message that ASEAN is in an effort to fight for the achievement of its national interests, namely obtaining profits and economic progress. Second, the function of International Communication for China is to convey the message that as an industrial country, in an effort to achieve its national interests, it becomes a superior country in the world. Third, the function of International Communication for ASEAN and China is to convey messages of the same interests to create harmony, peace and enhance image, reputation and cooperation.Key words :International Communication Function, ASEAN, China, ACFTA, Economic Power Approach

Abstract

The research background is that in the era of a world full of challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Indonesia is optimistic about taking on the duties of the 2023 ASEAN Chair. As Chair of ASEAN 2023, Indonesia certainly has an important role. Therefore, the author is interested in examining Indonesia 's role in the 2023 ASEAN Chair using a Constructivism Perspective. The purpose of this study is to examine and explain Indonesia's role in the 2023 ASEAN Chair using a Constructivism Perspective. To apply the research results, the authors use a descriptive research type. Data collection methods are document-based methods (document-based research) or internet-based methods (internet-based research). In this document-based or internet-based study, data and information are collected and analyzed to understand the phenomenon being studied. The data analysis method is qualitative. Based on the analysis, the results of the study show that the Constructivism Perspective identifies Indonesia's role in the Chair of ASEAN 2023 as a strategic role as a motor for peace, prosperity, regional architectural leaders by incorporating factors or elements of identity, understanding regarding collective identity and the interests of ASEAN not only the interests of Indonesia, providing benefits to regional and global community and make the ASEAN region a world's engine of sustainable growth.
