Abstract

Children with Special Needs are children who have their own uniqueness in their types and characteristics, which distinguish them from normal children in general. The purpose of this study was to find out how the learning process for children with special needs in SLB N Magelang City. In addition, to determine the supporting and inhibiting factors in learning for children with special needs. This research is a qualitative type of research with data collection instruments through observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. The results showed that the classification of children with special needs in SLB Negeri Magelang City there are 5 types, namely blind, deaf, mentally retarded, quadriplegic and speech impaired. In improving students' abilities during learning, teachers at SLB N Magelang City first look at the needs of the child according to the child's own ability. Factors supporting learning for children with special needs are adequate facilities and infrastructure, teachers are always patient with students and painstaking in teaching children. Meanwhile, the obstacle to learning for children with special needs is in providing education to students, the main factor is the environment, because many children have very affordable distances between home and school.

Abstract

Dari 30 siswa kelas 1 dan kelas 2 di SDN 2 Jetis ada 60% siswa yang belum mengenal huruf dan belum bisa membedakan huruf. Khususnya di kelas rendah, sehingga pada saat pembelajaran berlangsung mereka menjadi tertinggal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran Mahasiswa Kampus Mengajar sebagai penggerak literasi bahasa dengan program Pojok Baca di SDN 2 Jetis dan kegiatan jam tambahan. Analisis data yang digunakan  dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan instrumen pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian pada penelitian ini adalah kegiatan literasi bahasa pada Program Kampus Mengajar Angkatan 3. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar orang tua disana tidak memasukan putra putri mereka ke PAUD atau TK tetapi langsung di SD. Alasan lainnya guru disana belum teliti dalam mengajari peserta didiknya, media pembelajaran disana tentang literasi pun tidak pernah digunakan. Mahasiswa Kampus Mengajar Angkatan 3 di SDN 2 Jetis membuat “POJOK BACA” di setiap sudut kelas sebagai sarana literasi untuk menarik siswa dalam membaca dan juga kegiatan jam tambahan. Melalui program ini dinyatakan berhasil karena meningkatkan minat baca siswa terutama di kelas rendah. Mahasiswa Kampus Mengajar 3 bekerjasama dengan bapak ibu guru tentang kegiatan program pojok baca besar harapan kami agar pojok baca ini menjadi   program yang terus menerus di manfaatkan sebagai media pembelajaran yang bermanfaat bagi peserta didik generasi penerus SDN 2 Jetis.
