Abstract

Jayapura has many variaties of folklore. Unfortunately, this potential has not been used optimally as a reference of children reading for basic school.   This paper aims to know the chance of the ‘Ebhi dan Khandei’ story to be a source of children reading reference based on three criteria, namely the simplicity of structure; the character value; and the correlation between the structure of story and the developmental of child intelligence. Data analysis uses theory of structural; theory of developmental intelligence; and character value. It is concluded that ‘Ebhi and Khandei is recommended to be a source of reading for the children under the age of 7-11 years old because the story has a simple structure. The simplicity of structure reflected on the linear plot, the flat character, the concrete setting, the limited conflict, the stile on lexical element uses base world, and element of grammatical uses declarative sentence. Besides those components, this story also contains of good character value. Those characters are honesty and obey to the social rules.

Abstract

?Dame dan Dufun? merupakan cerita yang berasal dari Suku Mooi yang mendiami Desa Maribu, Distrik Sentani Barat, Kabupaten Jayapura, Provinsi Papua. Dengan menggunakan teori intertekstual, dapat ditemukan bahwa cerita ?Dame dan Dufun? berhipogram pada cerita ?Jaka Tarub?. Hubungan intertekstual kedua cerita terjadi pada tataran intrinsik dan ekstrinsik. Pada tataran intrinsik, ?Dame dan Dufun? banyak menyerap unsur cerita ?Jaka Tarub? ke dalam ceritanya. Hal ini terlihat dari banyaknya persamaan motif di dalam kedua cerita tersebut. Meskipun banyak memiliki kesamaan motif, sebagian besar motif tersebut terdapat dalam tahapan perkembangan alur yang berbeda. Pada tataran ekstrinsik terjadi penyimpangan berupa perlawanan terhadap hipogramnya, cerita ?Jaka Tarub?. Penyimpangan ini muncul karena adanya perbedaan pandangan kosmologi dan perbedaan pandangan mengenai konsep bidadari dengan cerita hipogramnya. Abstract: ?Dame and Dufun? is a story from Mooi Tribe which lives in Maribu Village, West Sentani District, Jayapura Regency, Papua Province. Using intertextual theory, it can be found that the story of ?Dame and Dufun? is similar to hypogram story of ?Jaka Tarub?. Intertextual relations on both stories happen in the intrinsic and extrinsic levels. At the intrinsic level, the story of ? Dame and Dufun? has absorbed many elements of ?Jaka Tarub? story. It can be seen from the resemblance of motifs of those stories. Although they have many common motifs, the most are found in different stages of plot development. At the level of extrinsic, distortions which controvert with its hypogram, story of ?Jaka Tarub?, occur. These distortions arise because of different views and perspectives on cosmology of angel concept with its hypogram. Key Words: intertextual relationship; hypogram; extrinsic level; intrinsic level
