Abstract

China's economy has made this country one of the world's economic powerhouses. China under the leadership of President Xi Jinping has implemented various strategic policies in building China connections. Massive investment and economic expansion made throughout the world make China increasingly have a great influence in the global world. In Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia and Malaysia, cooperation with China in the manufacturing, export-import, and finance sectors has existed for a long time and has become an important economic route in Southeast Asia. These three countries are the key to the Southeast Asian economy with a large population and strong purchasing power. This study analyzes the political economy relationship between Indonesia and southeast Asia with China using qualitative methods, and descriptive analysis based on credible data. The results of this study indicate that in the last ten years the economic relations between Indonesia and southeast Asia with China under the leadership of President Xi Jinping have continued to experience significant improvements in various sectors, especially in the fields of finance and infrastructure.

Abstract

Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) on 2020 have a positive effect on the implementation of a constitution and at least democracy for measuring political participation, the elections that were held after reform started from a Regional Head who was elected by the Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), then elected directly by the community (one man one vote). The direct election then became a simultaneous election in all parts of Indonesia. Until the latest development, namely the presence of a single candidate. The Single Candidate then implies the Empty Box as a companion because there are no candidates or no eligible candidates. This consequence must be accepted due to the Direct-Simultaneous Election system with the threshold record regulations as full of regional head nominations. This gave birth to various interests of political elites and party elites playing in it so that party elites inevitably intervened to whom the letter of recommendation would be given, or consolidation at the elite political level had agreed on a political dowry which then gave birth to a single candidate. This research uses qualitative methods with comprehensive analysis through data collected from the General Election Commission (KPU) and previous research. This paper examines the main factors that gave birth to a single candidate and the political elite’s role in compiling the party’s recommendation letter. The hypothesis that can be seen from the phenomenon of fighting empty boxes is the political dowry factor and the party cadre system’s ineffectiveness in producing leader candidates.

Abstract

A strong democracy will create broader public participation in the development process through transparent and accountable democratic mechanisms. Thus, democracy is a political system that ensures inclusive and sustainable economic growth and creates solid social stability. As individuals and communities, we are responsible for strengthening democracy to realize equitable and sustainable national development through active involvement in democratization and support for policies that favor social justice and shared prosperity. After the 2024 elections, polarization in society due to the power struggle is still felt, so the role of political parties and the government is crucial in maintaining political stability and the country's future development. This research will analyze the factors that can be used to strengthen democracy. The results show that the rule of law determines the process of strengthening democracy, the role of political parties, community involvement, and the professionalism of election organizers to achieve common goals and national progress.
