Abstract

This research aimed to find out how does the teacher assess students’ English learning achievement using Google Meeting Application at Second Grade MAN Bantaeng.This research used a descriptive qualitative method,the instruments used observation and interview. The observation used to observed the English teacher and the interview used to found How does the teacher assess students’ English learning achievement using Google Meeting Application.The subject of this research is teacher who teaching English using Google Meeting at second grade MAN Bantaeng.The results of this study show that teachers use speaking tests to assess students' English learning performance in the Google Meeting app. Teachers evaluate students' English learning performance through oral examinations. Students join Google Meetings one by one, and teachers then ask questions directly on daily exams or final exams. Teacher evaluations of the Google Meet Student Performance App show that students' English skills can improve after passing the Google Meeting app test. Students can respond well to questions posed by teachers.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the English test made by the teacher is in accordance with the content validity. To determine the content validity, the researcher compare the English test with the syllabus, lesson plan, and the material that has been taught. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by using document analysis in the form of mid- semester test and interview from the teacher. This research collects data from English teacher who teaches in seventh grade in SMP Negeri 1 Bontomarannu.The results obtained after analysis the test made by the teacher, a total of 15 questions were made by the teacher who teaches in seventh grade in the mid- semester test. There are 13 questions that are categories accordance with the content validity, namely according to the syllabus, lesson plan, and the material that has been taught. While there are 2 questions that are categories as not accordance with the content validity. And from the results of interview, it can be concluded that the teacher made a grid of questions before making test. Test made by the teacher must be in accordance with the syllabus, lesson plan, and the material that has been taught and according to the level of student ability.

Abstract

AHMAD MUQTADIR 2022. The Use of Discite App Tool in English Test (Descriptive Quantitative Research). A Thesis of English Education Department. Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. Supervised by Erwin Akib and Yassir Malappiang. This research aimed to find out how multimedia Discite app tool is used in evaluating students’ english test and also the students’ response toward Discite app tool. The subjects of this research we the English teacher at the ninth grade and the students of the ninth grade students. It was chosen by using cluster sampling. The design of this study was descriptive quantitative. The instruments of this research were English Test, Observation and Questionnaires. The result of the data indicated that, first the value 90% is obtained as a percentage of the results of validation by the English teacher on the product. With this result, conclusions can be made about feasibility of English test developed by using Multimedia Authoring Tool. The feasibility of the product is very good or very interesting to be implemented in test. In general, the English teacher assess that the media is suitable for use. As for the advice, the test needs to add some picture because some of them are still not clear enough. Then it can make the test more interested and easy to answer. Second, The results of assessment from the students toward the product above show that the average value is 95%. In this process the students looked enthusiast in answering the test. They could know their answer was correct or incorrect after click submit button, it made them motivated more to answer the next question. Besides, some students feel uncomfortable with picture, combination colour and the instruction. By trial and testing with students in class the researcher found some parts need to be corrected in the product. The parts need to be corrected are combination colour, more instruction and need more picture to make it more interested.

Abstract

This research method is descriptive qualitative. In compiling the data, the researcher conducted interviews and observations. In this study, 42 third-semester students of the Department of English Education at the Alauddin State Islamic University in Makassar were the research subjects. In addition, four students were interviewed, and 42 students were observed during the speaking class.The results showed that: 1) There are several classifications of cognitive strategies used by students in learning to speak, namely practicing, receiving and sending messages, analyzing and reasoning, and structuring input and output. In practice, students use repetition, apply rules of pronunciation, rules of grammar are too seldom used. Then, during receiving and sending messages, students need to think for a moment before giving their ideas. Next during receiving and sending messages, students need to think for a minute before providing their idea. Furthermore, while the strategy of analyzing and reasoning, students apply to analyze expressions, translating, and contrasting what they learn. The final cognitive strategy is to create structures for input and output. Students usually get notes and shorten the material. 2) Cognitive strategies have a positive effect on students' speaking performance

Abstract

This research aimed at finding out students’ speaking ability using shadowing techniques at the First Grade of SMAN 2 Sidrap This research uses pre-experimental research. Researcher have conducted treatment consisting of six meetings. The population of this research is the first-grade students at SMAN 2 Sidrap. Researcher used purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a speaking test. The research findings indicated that achievement of the first grade of SMAN 2 Sidrap was improved after using shadowing techniques. It was proven by mean score in terms of content in pre-test was 58 and post-test was 77. The improvement of the content was 0.020%. It means that there was significant difference between post-test and pre-test. Based on the research finding, the researcher concluded that teaching English by using shadowing techniques could improve the students’ Speaking ability.
