Abstract

The main problem in this study what are Teachers Pedagogic Competence in teaching English at SMAN 1 Sanggar in Bima. This study aims to determine the Teachers Pedagogic Competence in Teaching English at SMAN 1 Sanggar. The approach used in this research was descriptive research. Location of research at SMAN 1 Sanggar in Bima. This type of research was qualitative research, where  the process data collecting using observation and questionnaire. As for the analysis the author uses descriptive qualitative analysis techniques, namely written data, observations to the location of the location directly, so that in this case the researcher seeks to conduct research that is describing thoroughly about the actual situation. The subjects in this study were three English teachers at SMAN 1 Sanggar in Bima. From the results of the research that has been done, the writer can conclude that the teacher's Pedagogic competence in Teaching English has been done to the students quite well. The forms include: in terms of teachers understanding the characteristics of students it has been carried out using learning strategies, learning methods, and learning materials that are appropriate to the needs of students. For aspects of teachers understanding learning theory and learning principles that educate with effective and varied learning, for aspects of curriculum development carried out to design learning activities that fit the needs of students.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to find out whether the use of tongue twister technique can improve students’ pronunciation especially in pronouncing sound /ð/, /d/, /θ/, /t/, /ᶴ/, and /s/ or not.The method of this research was pre-experimental with pre-test and post-test as an instrument of the research. The population of the research was the eleventh grade of SMP 2 Sungguminasa that consisted of 63 students. The number of samples was 33 students. The data collection consisted of pre-test, treatment and post-test. Forms of pre-test and post-test were oral test that contained 18 words that related with the focus sounds.The findings of the research showed that the students’ mean score of pre-test before treatment was 63.09%. While after treatment, the mean score of post-test was 86.81%. Therefore, the significant between pre-test and post-test was 37.59%. In order that, the researcher assumed that using tongue twister technique could improve students’ pronunciation correctly especially in pronouncing sound /ð/, /d/, /θ/, /t/, /ᶴ/, and /s/.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of students in learning vocabulary mastery after using the ostensive means that in the process of teaching and learning vocabulary, teachers can bring real objects according to the theme of lessons. This research focuses to noun (things at home, part of body, animal, and fruits). The researcher used the pre-xperimental method, consist of pre-test treatment, and post-test design, and collected the data by giving pre-test and posttest. The sample of the research was class VII SMPN 4 Malili which was 25 students. The sample that researcher used was purposive sampling technique. The result of the research was score in the pre-test was 41, and in the post-test was 75,44. In this research also show that The value t-test was higher than the value of the t-table (27,04>1.713 ). It mean that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It was concluded the implementation of ostensive means in VII grade of SMP Negeri 4 Malili was effective to improve students’ vocabulary mastery consist noun

Abstract

This research aimed to verify whether the use of Spinning Wheel Media effective to bridging students’ speaking skill in term of pronunciation and vocabulary after being taught through Spinning Wheel Media at the first grade of SMP Negeri 1 Bontomarannu. The researcher applied pre-experimental method with one group pre-test post-test design and the data were collected by giving pre-test, treatment and post-test. The sample of the research was VII 3 of SMP Negeri 1 Bontomarannu which consisted of 16 students. The population of this study was the first grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Bontomarannu which consisted of 296 students in the academic year of 2021/2022. The sample was taken by cluster random sampling technique to select the sample of the research. The technique used for obtaining data was speaking test. The research findings show that the mean score of the students in pronunciation is proved by post-test 53.12 is higher than the mean score of the students in pre-test 34.37. Mean score of the students vocabulary is proved by pre-test 42.18 and post-test 75 and the hypothesis t-test value were 6.54. It means that Ha is accepted. Based on the findings that there is significance difference between the result of pre-test and post-test. Spinning Wheel Media is very good in enhance the students speaking skill in terms of pronunciation and vocabulary.
