Abstract

Abstract. High blood pressure or hypertension is one of the risks of cardiovascular disease with a high prevalence of death. Hypertension is a condition in which blood pressure exceeds its normal value, namely systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and diastolic blood of more than 90 mmHg. There are compounds in plant extracts such as palm oil (Elaeis guineensis), red pine (Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc), boysenberry (Rubus ursinus), tea (Camellia sinensis) and almond (Terminallia catappa) namely catechins that have potential to lower blood pressure by mechanisms such as ACEI (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor). The research was conducted using a systematic literature review method in reputable journals using the keyword “Antihypertensive”, “Catechin as Antihypertensive”, “Catechin” and “Catechin as Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor”. The results of the literarute show that there are plant part that contain catechin compunds, namely leaves, bark, and seeds that have the potential to reduce blood pressure by inhibiting ACE (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme). Abstrak. Tekanan darah tinggi atau hipertensi merupakan salah satu risiko penyakit kardiovaskular dengan prevalensi kematian yang cukup tinggi. Hipertensi merupakan kondisi dimana tekanan darah melebihi nilai normalnya yaitu tekanan darah sistolik lebih dari 140 mmHg dan tekanan darah diastolik lebih dari 90 mmHg. Terdapat senyawa dalam ekstrak tumbuhan seperti kelapa sawit (Elaeis guineensis), pinus merah (Pinus densiflora Sieb. et Zucc), boysenberry (Rubus ursinus), teh (Camellia sinensis), dan almond (Terminallia catappa) yaitu katekin yang memiliki potensi menurunkan tekanan darah dengan mekanisme seperti ACEI (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor). Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR) pada jurnal bereputasi dengan menggunakan kata kunci “Antihypertensive”, “Catechin”, “Catechin as Antihypertensive”, dan “Catechin as Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor”. Hasil penelusuran literatur menunjukkan bahwa terdapat bagian-bagian tumbuhan yang mengandung senyawa katekin yakni daun, kulit kayu, kulit batang dan biji yang berpotensi menurunkan tekanan darah dengan menghambat ACE (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme).
