Abstrak Penelitian ini menkaji tentang kepepimpinan adat di nagari Pasie Laweh dengan landasan pemikiran adalah krisis kepemimpinan adat, penelitian ini dimulai dari jumlah suku, suku yang ada di nagari inia berjumlah sebanyak 4 suku diantaranya suku Caniago, Suku Piliang, Suku Mandahiling, dan Suku Gugun dengan jumlah Penghulu sebanyak 34 orang. Dari 34 penghulu dimaksud sampai saat ini jabatan penghulu hanya dipegang oleh 3 orang dan ini merupakan persoalan mendasar dalam membangun nagari khususnya di bidang adat dan budaya, persoalan pengangkatan penghulu di nagari Pasie Laweh telah menjadi perhatian khusus bagi lembaga adat yang bernaung di bawah kepengurusan Kerapatan Adat Nagari (KAN) Pasie Laweh. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis. Dari hasil penelitian di dapatkan hasil sebagai berikut, langkah-langkah yang telah di ambil diantaranya, melaksanakan rapat-rapat koordinasi dengan pihak terkait seperti Wali Nagari, BPRN, dan Lembaga Usur Nagari, serta wakil “yang di-tua-kan di masing-masing suku”, pembentukan tim, sosialisasi baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung sera pendekatan persuasif. Kendala yang di hadapi oleh pengurus KAN dalam menjebatani pengangkatan penghulu dimaksud diantaranya adalah: masih adanya pemahaman tentang asal muasal keturunan khususnya dari pihak bapak, faktor ekonomi dan lain sebagainya. From the results of the study, the following results were obtained, the steps that have been taken include carrying out coordination meetings with related parties such as the Nagari Wali, BPRN, and the Nagari Usur Institution, as well as representatives "who are older in each ethnic groups”, team formation, socialization both directly and indirectly as well as a persuasive approach. The obstacles faced by the KAN management in bridging the appointment of the penghulu in question are: there is still an understanding of the origin of descent, especially from the father's side, economic factors and so on.
