Abstract

Integration and efforts to include women journalists are increasing as a result of advocating for a more inclusive media, including in sports desk. However sports journalist broadcasters are limited, as seen from the way women athletes are covered at various levels, the representation of athletes who get the spotlight as well as the focus on sports industry issues that get coverage priority. This literature review uses the scoping literature review method - a literature discussion on women sports journalists - and Bourdieu's framework to understand sports journalism as doxa and its influence on women journalists and other women workers in sports journalism. Experiences and decision making of women journalists were analyzed with the perspective of Gender Psychology based on previous researches from Journalism, Communication, Sports and Media Studies. The literature analysis resulted in a mapping of the various issues faced by women sports journalists, as well as describing the dynamics and identity negotiations that were experienced. The existence of women sports journalists influences the way sports desk works, the issues and focus of their work, their writing styles, and their strategies in the workplace and sports media as institutions. Women sports journalists create a space to work through their daily lives.

Abstract

This article addresses the complex challenges of waste management on small islands in Indonesia, focusing on the impact of tourism and community response, particularly from a feminist political ecology (FPE) perspective. It argues that the current neoliberal and technocratic approaches to waste management are insufficient and often perpetuate gender inequalities. It calls for more inclusive and equitable waste management policies that recognize the contributions of all community members, particularly women. The research underscores the need for a gender equitable approach to environmental governance to achieve sustainable waste management and environmental justice. The research employed focused ethnography in North Lombok Regency, involving indepth interviews and focus group discussions. Our research found that while government efforts primarily focus on maintaining cleanliness for tourism, these initiatives often neglect inequalities in waste management strategies. Women play a crucial role in these grassroots initiatives, performing unpaid care work to manage waste, but face significant health risks and receive little recognition or support. The study recommends a shift from a tourismcentric approach to a community-centered model that invests in sustainable, long-term solutions prioritizing local needs, environmental health, and the empowerment of women, addressing environmental justice issues linked to tourism and waste accumulation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the challenges of women's representation as Bawaslu members and the resulting impact of the low percentage of women in Bawaslu. Many previous studies have examined the challenges and obstacles in realizing women's representation in politics, especially in the context of elections, but there is still a lack of studies on women's representation in the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu). This research was conducted using Anne Phillips' theory of Political Representation. This descriptive research is a literature study involving books, journals, research, and websites as data. The results show that the current challenges to women's representation as members of the Indonesian Bawaslu are the lack of natural resources for women, a gender-neutral selection process, and a lack of knowledge about elections. As a result, women become politically illiterate, especially with regard to elections, gender equality in the Bawaslu commissioners does not materialize.
