Abstract

The curriculum formed must look at the situations and challenges of the times. Lately the challenges of the Indonesian people are increasingly diverse. One challenge is the increasing number of hate speech in both the real and virtual worlds. This if not immediately above can endanger the unity of the Indonesian people. Therefore it is necessary to collaborate with all elements to prevent and overcome this. One that has an important role in overcoming the challenges of the nation is tertiary institutions. In this paper, we will discuss a model of developing a multicultural Islamic education curriculum in the face of hate speech (Study Program of PAI Postgraduate Program IAIN Surakarta). The results found a new course called "Development of Islamic Studies in Diversity". The course provides an understanding of Islam that is open, inclusive and tolerant.

Abstract

This research aims to see the various religious understanding of students in IAIN Surakarta from their activities and the existence of Islamic values in the Student Activity Unit. Even though, the study focuses on the various understanding which is moderate in term of its ideology and attitude. Using descriptive-qualitative approach, this research showed that variation of the student religious understanding at IAIN Surakarta, in term of their attitudes was moderate, which are able to be seen from their way of thinking and acting that emphasizing on the principles of tawassuth (moderate), tawazun (balance), i’tidal (middle-way) and tasamuh (tolerance). In addition, the ideology of religion, which is applied by the Student Activity Unit, was also in accordance with the value of moderate understanding.Keywords:Various-understanding, Islamic-values, Moderate understanding,

Abstract

AbstractThe times by increasing the sophistication of science and technology have led to an increase in the flow of communication in Indonesia. Increasing the flow of cyberspace communication is increasingly widespread with various forms of communication both leading to positive and negative things such as hate speech. If negative forms of communication such as hate speech are not immediately prevented or overcome, it can have a negative impact on the unity and integrity of the Indonesian state. Therefore there is a need for treatment, one of the forms of handling is by optimizing tertiary institutions through the three principles of Tri Darma, education, research and service. In this case the author, examines the role of Islamic subjects and Javanese culture in dealing with expressions of hatred. The aim is to find out the role of Islamic tertiary institutions in preventing or overcoming hate speech, more specifically through these courses. The research method used in this paper is a qualitative analytical descriptive method. This course teaches a number of attitudes and principles of life that are relevant to Islamic teachings and are compatible with the principles of peace including universal attitudes, tolerance, understanding of togetherness and diversity, ngajeni marang liyan (respecting others). So this subject needs to be optimized in preventing or overcoming the utterance of hatredKeywords: Islam and Javanese Culture, hate speech.
