Abstract

This study aims to explain human dignity in the Gaudium et Spes review dealing with acts of terrorism that occurred in Indonesia. According to Gaudium et Spes, humans are the image of God who has a reason, conscience, and free will. This nature makes humans special creatures created by God. So humans are also called to love and respect each other's dignity as imago Dei. Based on this, acts of terrorism that result in the loss of another person's life are seen as crimes. In comparison, human life and death are only in the hands of Allah. The methodology used in this study is a qualitative method by conducting a critical reading of the Gaudium et Spes document on human dignity. This theme is then analyzed with the issue of terrorism that occurred in Indonesia. The findings of this study are that acts of terrorism are contrary to the teachings of the Church which upholds human dignity. This can be seen in human nature as the image of God and as a free and independent person.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the spirituality of the Jewish liturgy found in the celebration of the Eucharist and its impact on the involvement of Indonesian Catholics in socio-political life. This study emerged from the concern that the Indonesian people, who are actually rich in spiritual values, in fact behave badly in their socio-political life which is characterized by acts of corruption. This research raises the awareness of Catholics to be actively involved in socio-political life and color it with gospel values. This vocation will be realized if the Eucharist as the source and summit of Christian life really renews and encourages Catholics in Indonesia to take part in God's mission to save all people. So the Eucharist must draw from the spirituality contained in Jewish worship as the locus of a personal encounter with the God who saves. This study uses the qualitative method by conducting a literature study on the liturgy in the Jewish and Christian traditions and then connecting them to today's socio-political issues. This study has found that the spirituality of the Jewish liturgy as the root of the Christian liturgy is able to bring renewal in the lives of Catholics, especially their involvement in realizing justice, peace, and social welfare.

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan konsep pertobatan ekologis menurut Ensiklik Laudato Si dalam menanggapi persoalan kerusakan hutan yang terjadi di Kabupaten Sintang, Kalimantan Barat. Menurut Ensiklik Laudato Si, seluruh alam semesta merupakan ciptaan Allah yang bertujuan untuk saling melengkapi satu sama lain. Ensiklik ini menyebut alam semesta sebagai rumah bersama yang harus dipelihara demi terciptanya persekutuan universal dalam Allah. Persoalan ekologis seperti kerusakan hutan yang terjadi di Kabupaten Sintang merupakan pencederaan atas keutuhan rumah bersama dan persekutuan seluruh ciptaan. Maka melalui Ensiklik ini Gereja menyerukan pertobatan ekologis bagi seluruh manusia agar kembali merajut persekutuan dengan alam semesta. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam studi ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan melakukan studi kepustakaan atas konsep pertobatan ekologis menurut Ensiklik Laudato Si. Tema ini kemudian dielaborasi dengan berbagai macam persoalan ekologis zaman ini, secara khusus persoalan kerusakan hutan yang terjadi di Kabupaten Sintang. Temuan dari studi ini ialah: 1) Kerusakan hutan yang terjadi di Kabupaten Sintang bertentangan dengan pandangan Gereja dalam Ensiklik Laudato Si bahwa alam semesta merupakan ciptaan Allah dan rumah bersama yang harus dipelihara. 2) Manusia mesti melakukan pertobatan ekologis yang dimulai dari kesadaran bahwa alam semesta merupakan ciptaan Allah yang harus dipelihara sampai pada tindakan konkret komunal untuk menjaga keutuhan hutan di Kabupaten Sintang.

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan semangat internasionalitas Serikat Maria Montfortan (SMM) dalam surat edaran Superior Jendral SMM, Pater William Considine. Semangat internasionalitas yang ditegaskan Pater William Considine merupakan bentuk tanggapan SMM atas seruan Gereja dalam Konsili Vatikan II tentang karya misioner, khususnya dalam Dekrit Ad Gentes yang mengulas banyak tentang karya misioner Gereja di dunia. Serikat Maria Montfortan sebagai sebuah kongregasi misi internasional mempunyai andil yang besar dalam mensukseskan misi Gereja ini. Di bawah payung spiritualitas internasional, ia mengajak seluruh anggota Serikat untuk membuka mata terhadap situasi konkret dunia, lalu mengambil langkah pasti berupa perutusan misionaris sebagai bentuk aksi nyata atas misi Ad Gentes Gereja. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam studi ini ialah metode kualitatif dengan melakukan pembacaan kritis atas Dokumen Ad Gentes dan Surat Edaran Pater William Considine. Kedua dokumen ini kemudian dibaca dalam situasi dunia masa kini yang menghadapi banyak perubahan multidimensi yang kompleks. Temuan dari studi ini ialah: (1) Serikat Maria Montfortan sebagai bagian dari kongregasi internasional dipanggil untuk berpartisipasi aktif dalam karya misi Gereja untuk mewartakan Kabar Gembira Kristus kepada semua bangsa. (2) Tujuan ini dapat tercapai jika semua anggota SMM kembali menghidupkan semangat internasionalitas sebagaimana yang diserukan oleh Pater William Considine.

Abstract

This paper focuses on revealing the important role of catechists endowed with a spirit of nationalism in building the lives of grassroots Catholics. Its motivation is the fact that grassroots Catholics behave passively and apathetically in social life. They are more likely to actively build fellowship within (the Church) and neglect fellowship outwards (society) with other groups. Therefore, a nationalistic catechesis is needed, carried out by catechists. It must be an elaboration of Christian spirituality with the values of Pancasila. The Indonesian Catholic Church in its long history has always supported and practiced the values of Pancasila in its mission. The methodology used in writing this academic paper is library research. The author performed a critical reading of news items in HIDUP magazine, relating them to Church teaching or other books connected with the theme of this academic work. The conclusion of this paper is that grassroots Catholics “are present” together with other groups in order to actively participate in building this nation.
