Abstract

Efficient use of energy is a top priority in the oil and gas industry, the aim is to reduce operational costs, one of these efforts can be done by utilizing the heat from the process to heat the feed before it is heated in the furnace, as is the case with heat exchangers. The effectiveness of the heat exchanger indicates the performance of the heat exchange process in the heat exchanger, both by convection and conduction. Over time, the effectiveness of the heat exchanger will decrease due to fouling formed and other things that can reduce the effectiveness of the heat exchanger. Through the performance evaluation, the performance of the heat exchanger can be indicated which can be used for future maintenance and repair plans. Thermal effectiveness was calculated using the dirt factor and pressure drop methods, and the calculated operating fouling factor was 0.002 Btu.ft2.°F /hr, this condition exceeded the maximum allowable design limit of 0.005 Btu.ft2.°F/hr, while the calculated pressure drop is 2,72 psi. This condition is still below the maximum allowable design limit of 10 psi, so this heat exchanger is still feasible to use. Calculation of the effectiveness of the heat exchanger results in an effectiveness of 34,075%.

Abstract

PLTU Pacitan merupakan pembangkit listrik yang menyalurkan listriknya ke Gardu Induk Pacitan Baru dan Gardu Induk Wonogiri. Untuk menjamin kebutuhan listriknya, PLTU Pacitan harus menjaga peralatannya, salah satunya turbin uap. Turbin uap merupakan alat yang sangat penting keberadaannya karena berfungsi untuk menghasilkan putaran yang nantinya akan memutar generator. Supaya proses tersebut lancar, maka perlu dilakukan perawatan dan dievaluasi unjuk kerjanya secara rutin. Dalam melakukan evaluasi dan optimalisasi, ada beberapa parameter yang harus diperhatikan. Antara lain: daya turbin teoritis, daya turbin aktual, steam rate, dan efisiensi total dari turbin uap tersebut. Berdasarkan hasil analisis yang telah dilakukan, dapat diketahui bahwa terjadi peningkatan konsumsi uap tetapi menghasilkan daya output generator yang lebih rendah. Setelah dilakukan perhitungan, ditemukan bahwa terjadi penurunan efisiensi sebesar 16%, yaitu dari kondisi commissioning (86%) ke kondisi operasi (69%) Kemungkinan hal ini disebabkan karena heat loss yang terjadi pada pipa main steam. Setelah dilakukan optimalisasi berupa perbaikan pada insulasi pipa main steam, efisiensi turbin dapat ditingkatkan sebesar 2%, yaitu dari 69% menjadi 71%.

Abstract

This paper aims to evaluate the efficiency of screw compressor UP5- 15-10 used at PT XYZ. Screw compressor efficiency is a key factor in the operation of gas processing facilities, then a good understanding of screw compressor operation can improve operational efficiency and reduce energy consumption. The compressor used in this KKW is an Ingersoll Rand UP5-15-10. The UP5-15-10 compressor is used to power pneumatic tools and instrumentation equipment. The UP5-15-10 compressor is included in the rotary type positive displacement compressor, the compressor uses ambient air as its working fluid. UP5-15-10 screw compressor operation, including design data from the manual book and actual data such as incoming air capacity of 65 CFM at a temperature of 186 F with a pressure of 135 Psia getting a power of 13.74 kW from the power specification data of 15 kW obtained efficiency of 91%. The decrease in power in screw compressor UP5-15-10 by 9% is due to the difference in intake capacity between design and actual conditions, this is caused by process needs.
