Abstract

Background: Low birth weigth babies (LBW) are most likely a cause of the infant mortality and morbidity. Many factors causes LBW babies as maternal health, behavior during pregnancy, environmental  as well as fetal and placental factors. Negative behavior during pregnancy such as exposure of cigarette smoke can affect the body’s supply of oxygen from mother to fetus and placenta. Exposure to cigarette smoke may also reduce maternal folic acid level which causes disruption of fetal growth inside the womb. Objective: This study was aimed to fnd out the risk of low birth weight baby in the passive smoker pregnant woman.Method: The study used a case control design. The subject consisted of mothers who delivered at RSU dr. Zainoel Abidin in Banda Aceh municipality. The case group were mothers who delivered babies of less than 2,500 grams and the control group were those who delivered babies of 2,500 grams or more. Each group consisted of 105 mothers (1:1). Sample were taken using non probability with consecutive sampling method. Data analysis used univariable method with frequency distribution, bivariable with chi square and multivariable with logistic regression. Results: Passive smoker pregnant woman exposed the 1-10 cigarettes a day had risk 2,4 times greater of getting low birth weight baby (OR=2,42; 95%CI 1,24-4,71). Pregnant mother exposed to ≥11 cigarettes a day had the risk 3,1 times greates in having LBW infants than those not exposed (OR=3,1; 95%CI 1,50-6,70).Conclusion: Passive smoker of pregnant mother increased the risk of low birth weight babies.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country of law and has issued policies related to vaccination during the covid-19 pandemic, as in the Regulation of the Minister of Health Number 84 of 2020 (Concerning the 2019 War Against Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) in the context of implementing vaccinations) as described in) pandemic.Judging from the prevalence of Covid-19 cases, the current need is to develop a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine that can trigger an appropriate immune response to stop the COVID-19 pandemic. Objective: The purpose of this Systematic Review is to analyze the influence of public opinion on the covid-19 vaccination. Methods: Database searches include Google Scholar, Science Direct, and Pubmed with keywords. The keywords used are views, perceptions, covid 19 vaccination, Implementation of Covid-19 Vaccination, Vaccine Effectiveness. The next stage is to select articles according to the criteria, which are published in 2019-2022 with the full text of 13 articles that meet the inclusion criteria. Showing public doubts about the covid 19 vaccination, which was reinforced by the slanted news about the vaccine, some said they died, or got the virus again. So it can be said that people do not understand the use of the vaccine itself. That's. It is hoped that the government's duty is to continue to encourage and campaign about vaccination, because this way we can break the chain of virus spread. The public is asked to be patient in going through this pandemic, because it is not only Indonesia, but the whole world.

Abstract

All routine services, including maternal and newborn health services, face many constraints during this pandemic. In the early stages of pregnancy, almost every pregnant woman begins to prepare for labor. There are many things that can be done to prepare, from preparing for the needs of the baby, the needs of the mother, psychological preparation, to preparing for the choice of a birthing facility. Welcoming babies into families is a habit, but during the Covid-19 pandemic, it's another story. Objective: The purpose of this Systematic Review is to analyze the effect of immunization services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Database search includes Google Scholar, Science Direct, and Pubmed with the keywords used are impact, anxiety; pregnant mother; maternity mother; childbirth, pandemic, COVID-19. The next stage is to select articles according to the criteria, which are published in 2017-2022 with the full text of 12 articles that meet the inclusion criteria. Results: Findings from 12 articles showed that the impact of COVID-19 on the preparation of pregnant women for childbirth in health facilities differed from maternal anxiety. In addition, the anxiety of pregnant women about childbirth greatly affects the mother's readiness to carry out prenatal care and preparation for delivery. And the effects of Covid-19 on childbirth have not been shown to be contagious to the newborn. However, mothers who are infected with Covid-19 must still follow health protocols, including self-isolation or separation from their newborn babies. Conclusion: the impact of covid 19 on preparation for childbirth is the anxiety of pregnant women, This anxiety can be reduced by providing guidance, counseling and education for pregnant women about transmission and routes of transmission. How to protect yourself from COVID-19 and its prevention. It is transmitted from pregnant women to babies. More importantly, if the mother is hesitant and afraid to go for a pregnancy check-up at the hospital for fear of contracting the virus from other people, a solution can be given to check her womb at the nearest midwife or clinic so that she can avoid contact with other people as well as when the delivery process arrives.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of warm compress application on labor pain intensity during the active phase of the first stage of labor at Cut Nyak Dhien Regional Public Hospital, Meulaboh. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a one group pre-test and post-test approach. The population consisted of all laboring mothers at the hospital from January to December 2024 (762 individuals). Samples were selected using purposive sampling, totaling 88 respondents. The results showed that before the intervention, 83% of respondents experienced severe pain. After the warm compress was applied, there was a significant decrease in pain with an average reduction score of 0.557 (p < 0.001). A total of 55.7% of respondents reported reduced pain, while 44.3% experienced no change. Pain distribution shifted from primarily severe (83%) to severe (44.3%), moderate (38.6%), and mild (17%). Warm compresses are effective in reducing the intensity of labor pain during the active phase of the first stage, although the effects may vary among individuals. Warm compresses can be considered as a standard non-pharmacological intervention in maternity care to help manage labor pain effectively.
