Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the existence of a university library in creating an information society towards the Islamic Science Campus of Reflection at Surau Minangkabau. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive type of research. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation.  The results of the study indicate that the role of the university library is to become an incubation center and research innovation center that serves as an intermediary and seeks to bridge the information explosion, so that information can be spread comprehensively and can be utilized by the information community, in this case the academic community. UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar has the tagline "Islamic Science Campus, Reflection on Surau in Minangkabau".

Abstract

Since the implementation of Regional Autonomy, the term village can be referred to by other names, for example in West Sumatra Province it is known as "Nagari" and in Aceh Province it is known as "Gampong". Currently, the development of the gampong/village library is certainly not just a structural complement to the gampong/kelurahan government, but it is a basic thing that must be fulfilled to add references and inspiration in changing people's mindsets that have an impact on a prosperous life. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative descriptive type of research. In retrieving data the author uses the Snowball Sampling Technique. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique starts from data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Guarantee the validity of the data in this study using triangulation of sources. The results of the study indicate that the role of the Gampong Lamdingin Library in increasing students' reading interest includes (a). Book review activities that are held regularly, (b) Cooperation with mobile libraries, (c). Coloring activities to increase students' creativity, (d). Require the students before starting the recitation to visit the library and read at least 20 minutes. With activities like this, it is hoped that the village library will make a major contribution to the development of reading interest for students and synergize with the role of the family, the environment, and the surrounding community

Abstract

This research will focus on addressing issues in the processing of library materials and developing recommendations to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of processing through appropriate classification activities. Among the processes involved in processing library materials are the selection of materials, determination of subjects, classification of materials, inventorying of materials, cataloging, providing call numbers on the spine of books, and shelving. Therefore, processed library materials can be arranged on bookshelves or known as 'selving'. The purpose of this study is to improve the quality of library services and user satisfaction at the Parambahan Subdistrict Office Library. It also aims to organize library materials at the Parambahan Subdistrict Office Library more neatly so that the information can be utilized by the surrounding community to enhance their knowledge. The results of this study are expected to provide information and input for library managers and stakeholders to improve the processing of library materials in a better and structured manner at the library.Keywords: Processing Of Library Materials, Classification of Library Materials

Abstract

Reading corner is a means of education related to lifelong learning. It's aimed at improving the quality of education in the community. Reading Corner Bank Sampah Anggrek Bulan is one of the TBMs that is active in developing the capabilities of the community by processing garbage into useful objects. This research aims to describe the contribution of the Anggrek Bulan Reading Corner to improving public to support the mission of Padang Panjang City as a City of Literature. The research method used is qualitative, the type of field research, whereas the analysis approach used is descriptive-qualitative. Sampling technique using purposive sampling. As for the informants in this study, they are the founder of the reading corner, the administrator, and the visitor to the reading corner. Data collection through direct field observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is done by means of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawings. The results of this study show that Anggrek Bulan Reading Corner  develops the literacy of the community with a variety of routine activities such as tahfiz, disposing of wastes, and whistling. Its efforts to preserve and promote local wisdom culture are carried out by providing a collection of fiction related to the culture of independence, organizing local cultural activities and inviting experts in the process of transferring information for the young generation to know the culture, in particular Minangkabau culture. These activities have had a significant influence in supporting the Padang Panjang as a City of Literature.
