Abstract

The learning activities applied are still dominated by textbooks, so additional learning resources are needed to support more creative and innovative learning activities. This study aims to create a semi-solid preparation-based chemical practicum module for craft and entrepreneurship (PKWU) as a learning resource for SMA/MA students. The type of research used is development research (R&D) with the 4D development model. The research subjects included one material expert, a media expert, four reviewers, and ten SMA/MA MIPA students. Quality assessment was carried out using a Likert scale questionnaire sheet and a Guttman scale questionnaire. The analysis technique uses quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results of the assessment show that material experts are 90.77% in the Very Good category, product ratings by media experts are 96.7% in the Very Good category, and the reviewer's assessment (chemistry teacher) gets an average score of average with a percentage of 90.25% in the Very Good category. The results of student responses to the module show a percentage of 95%. The results show that the PKWU practicum module based on semisolid preparations is feasible to use as an alternative learning resource in increasing student understanding. This research implies that teachers are expected to be able to use practicum modules that can facilitate students in carrying out practicum activities.

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the discovery learning model on critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes in buffer solution material for class XI MIPA at SMA Negeri 1 Kejobong. This research uses a quasi-experimental type of research which was carried out in March – April 2023. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. The population consists of three classes XI MIPA, totaling 101 students. The samples used were class XI MIPA 1 as an experimental class with a total of 31 students and class XI MIPA 2 as a control class with a total of 34 students. The instruments used were critical thinking ability questionnaires and multiple choice questions. The results of this research indicate that the use of the discovery learning model in learning buffer solution material can improve critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes. This is evident from the average critical thinking ability score of experimental class students of 58.32 while the control class is 55.29. The average value of student learning outcomes for the experimental class was 84.77 and the control class was 79.53. The conclusion from the results of this research is that there is an influence of the discovery learning model on critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes in buffer solution material for class XI MIPA at SMA Negeri 1 Kejobong.

Abstract

The Kencur plant has many benefits, is economically valuable, and is widely cultivated by the local community. The development of kencur compounds has not been carried out optimally because of the relatively high cost of identifying the content of each compound. This study aimed to determine the physiochemical properties of kencur compounds and their pharmacokinetics, as well as the toxicity of the herb kencur rhizome in silico. The method used in this study uses a Marvin sketch to draw the structure of the compound, which was then analyzed using Lipinski to determine its physico-chemical properties. Pharmacokinetic and toxicity analyses were performed using the pKCSM software. The results showed that all compounds followed Lipinski's rules; therefore, predictably, they could be developed into drug molecules from these compounds. In addition, all compounds had fairly high Water Solubility (log S). All HIA compounds were >90%, so they were well absorbed in the intestine and showed good permeability to CaCO-2 with a log Papp value of > 0.90. All the above compounds have low permeability to the skin due to the log Kp value > -2.5, so they are not suitable for transdermal preparations. Abstract

Metastatic breast cancer also known as stage IV breast cancer. Current chemotherapy agents have several limitations, such as resistance events, side effects, and inadequate efficacy in advanced cancer. It is necessary to develop a more effective chemotherapy model, namely the development of co-chemotherapy agents derived from natural ingredients that have activity in counteracting oxidative stress and preventing metastatic breast cancer, namely red ginger. GC-MS analysis of red ginger oleoresin showed the composition of chemical compounds influenced by variants of soxletation time of 60, 120, and 180 minutes. GC-MS analysis showed that this essential oil consists of volatile compounds, mainly from the sesquiterpene group and namely zingiberene, betha-sesquiphellandrene, betha-bisabolene and ar-curcumene. The results of the cytotoxic test analysis of red ginger extract with socletation time for 60, 120 and 180 minutes respectively obtained IC50 data as follows with 45.16 µg/ml, 37.23 µg/ml and 20.2 µg/ml. The compounds contained in red ginger, such as zingiberene, gingerol, shogaol, flavonoids, phenolics, alkaloids, saponins, and tannins, play an important role in its cytotoxic effect against cancer cells. The mechanism by which alpha-Zingiberene induces cell death in cancer cells is mainly through the apoptotic process. The compound causes the release of mitochondrial cytochrome c into the cytoplasm, which then activates caspase-3, an apoptotic enzyme.
