Revisiting Behaviourism Theory of Learning: an outline with Islamic Education Khairan Muhammad Arif

Abstract

Research on the correction of the theory of  learning behaviorism perspective of Islamic education aims to reveal and explain the  weaknesses  of the  theory of learning behaviorism introduced and practiced by the figures of the psychological school of behaviorism such as;  Edwart L. Thorndike (1874-1949), Ivan Pavlov (1849-1936) and B. F Skinner (1904-1990), especially related to the  concept of learning, the nature  of  learners and the motivation of learning that many educational practices conventional western, then provides a more precise and comprehensive concept related to learning, the nature of human or learner potential  and learning motivation in the Qur'an and As-Sunnah.   This research method  uses a qualitative method with an analytical description approach that aims to explain and describe the problems studied authentically, literatively and thematically, as well as scientifically analyze  the research object that gives birth to conclusions.  The source of this research is the library (Library Research), by tracing and examining a large part of the main references to the  theory of  behaviorism such as the  work of B.F. Skinner, Science and Human Behavior, works Robert M. Gagne, The Condition of Learning and Theori of Instruction" and others.  The results of this study show that Islamic education found the weaknesses of behaviorist theory me which equated human psychology with animals, equating cognitive and emotional human beings with animals and the view that the motivation of learning is only from outside the human self, so it always requires a stimulus and response in learn. Abstract

The study of human character is a very important study in the global era, because almost all psychologists and modern education and human resource research recognize that positive character development really helps every organism or individual achieve success and improve the quality of human resources. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to prove that the types of characters in the Qur'an are superior characters and have been tested by history which have given birth to the great success of Muslims in the past. This study also aims to explore the noble and superior characters in the Qur'an in improving human resources. Among these characters is the character of courage (As-Syaja'ah). The method used in this study is a non-interactive qualitative method that focuses on literature studies (library research) integrated with historical studies (Historical Research) accompanied by the experiences of certain communities and in certain periods with analysis, re-interpretation and description according to context. and contemporary life. The results of this study are; know the types of positive and constructive character in Islamic education, namely courage and analysis of its implementation in the learning process in modern education. The benefit for educators, educational institutions and parents is to provide broad and superior insights and competencies for them in education.

Research on islamic educational values in the process of descending the Qur'an is a study that aims to discuss and explore the wisdom or values of Islamic education conceived from the process of descending The Qur'an gradually and gradually and in accordance with the events experienced by the Prophet Muhammad saw and the muslims at that time. This research seeks to introduce the values of Islamic education from the process of descending the noble Qur'an to the world of Islamic education to be implemented in the learning process. The research method used in this study uses a qualitative method with an analytical description approach that aims to explain and describe the problems studied authentically, literatively and thematically, as well as scientifically analyze the object of research that give birth to conclusions. The source of this research is library (Library Research) , by tracing and examining classical and contemporary literature related to the history of the Qur'an, especially the process of the descent of the Qur'an. The results of this study are, first; The value of Islamic education in the process of the descent of the Qur'an gradually contains Islamic educational values that are moral in the nature of personal character (al-qiyam al-khuluqiyah ad-zatiyah) namely integrity personality in the form of patience and determination in the teaching and learning process. Second: Spiritual and priesthood Values (al-qiyam al-imaniyah), which must be instilled in the learners. Thirth: The character value of morality (al-qiyam al-akhulukiyah ad-dzatiyah). Fourth: Morality value of behavior/character (al-qiyam al-akhlakiyah as-sulukiyah) and Fifth: Value of social morality (al-qiyam al-akhlakiyah al-ijtima'iyah)
