Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Padlet as a digital learning tool to improve the writing skills of procedural and explanatory texts among sixth-grade students at SD Metro School Makassar. Employing a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one group pre-test–post-test design, the research involved 32 students from two parallel classes who had received writing instruction using Padlet. Data were collected through performance tests and classroom observations, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired samples t-test. The findings revealed that the average score for procedural text writing increased from 64.94 to 89.06, while that for explanatory text writing improved from 59.67 to 89.94. The t-test confirmed that these gains were statistically significant (p < 0.05). However, the comparison between the two text types indicated no significant difference (p = 0.457), although a moderate positive correlation (r = 0.512) was found. These results suggest that Padlet effectively enhances students’ writing skills across both text genres. Padlet has proven to foster a collaborative, interactive, and inclusive learning environment, making it a highly recommended tool for writing instruction in primary education.
