Abstract

Companies who produce several of cigarettes, one of the kinds is BM Universal 12. To produce product with best quality and due to give satisfaction toward its consumer, there are several problem faced by the cigarette production process which is there are still defect product in its production process. From this condition, they need one method to deal with the matter. Using six sigma methods, they can identify defect product and by doing that they could improve the quality of the product. In this experiment it's using integration method by combining six sigma method and ISO 9001:2000. Six sigma methods is expected to be able minimizing the defect in PT "X" by creating production process more effectively, better performance of the company and still fulfilling the need and the satisfaction of the consumer while also making efforts to improve and inclined its quality. Meanwhile ISO 9001:2000, is an international standard that has orientation toward the qualifying products. Based on its internal data and observation commence inside the company, there would be only three main clauses from ISO 9001:2000 requirements that is going to be made as measuring points of product quality improvement, which is clause 5 (management responsibilities), 7 (product realization) and 8 (measurement, analysis and improvement). While Six Sigma phase comprises of Define, Measure, Analyze and Improve. In Define phase there would be defining the product, the making of Six Sigma team and the making of production flow process. Measure has 3 kind defects that usually have bigger percentage than other defects which is unbalance weight defect (including empty shell) and korep defect. The percentage that goes with unbalance weight defect (including empty shell) is 41.9% and korep defect with 21.03% from all three defect we gained DPMO value reaching 7776 and sigma level reaching 3,9. By viewing the FMEA and RPN, the improvement alternatives that suppose to be done by the company is creating job instruction, implementing job instruction in rolling process then the company should be able to save Rp3,942,975.00 for one month.

Abstract

Methodologically there are some problems in the methods of scheduling production whichhave been available. In the methods of scheduling production which have been available, it isoften less capable for giving the real condition images from the real systems. It is indicated bythe given assumption that each operation should be finished previously before the other operationsare done. This case is inappropriate if applied in the repetitive production types as happenedin X Gresik, Co. Ltd. Because methodologically there are some problems in the methodsof scheduling conventional production, so in this research the methods of scheduling conventionalproduction are modified by using Microsoft excel application software, so it enables inthis method to handle the case of scheduling production in the types of repetitive production.urthermore, by using the methods of scheduling production modified by using Microsoft excelapplication software, the scheduling can be achieved by the better makespan (makespan =471,17 hours), so the production facility utilities are also more optimal compared to productionscheduling results by conventional approach (makespan = 893,7 hours).

Abstract

The main purpose in queue case was achieving equilibrium between service fees and the fees caused by the available waiting times. This case also happened on the queue system at Purabaya Terminal, Surabaya. In the one hand, the exceed service capacity preparation will cause the queue time. On the other hand, the less service capacity preparation will cause the bigger losses must be guaranteed by bus businessman because of not carrying a number of passengers. Cases at Purabaya Terminal were really general queue cases that can be solved by using the available queue theory. But which methodologically there were problems from the queue theory that has been available, in the queue theory that has been available frequently is less able to give real situation image from the observed system. This case was indicated by the happening several assumptions about the available probability distribution of certain system state in which this case will limit the real condition from the observed system. Because the conventional approach has weaknesses, this research used entropy approach. The entropy approach enables to handle the queue system by arrival rates which spread generally. Then, by entropy approach, it can be determined the optimal capacity service for the fast and limited bus armadas as follows: West Line I = 17 minutes 17 seconds, West Line II = 14 minutes 43 seconds, South Line = 13 minutes 21 seconds, East Line = 12 minutes 37 seconds, Madura Line = 2 hours 19 minutes, and Semarang Line = 1 hours 47 minutes.
