Abstract

Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the world, one of the factors is hypercholesterolemia which causes thickening of artery walls, resulting in atherosclerosis. The management of hypercholesterolemia is done non-pharmacologically, namely medical nutritional therapy using functional food ingredients, red beans and probiotics containing isoflavones and BAL compounds that can reduce total cholesterol levels. This research aims the effectiveness of giving red bean yoghurt of total cholesterol levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia. This study used a Quasy experiment with pre-post test design, from February 2019 to May 2020 in all patients with hypercholesterolemia in the working area of ​​Nanggalo Public Health Center. The number of samples were 15 cases given red bean yoghurt and 15 controls given 225 mL of probiotic yoghurt for 14 days and were taken by purposive sampling. The data taken is the results of initial and final cholesterol examination of hypercholesterolemia patients, analyzed by T-Test Dependent and Mann Whitney. The results showed an average decrease in total cholesterol levels of respondents given red bean yogurt 40.87 mg/dL and probiotic yogurt 15.47 mg/dL. Statistical test results showed there were significant differences between changes in total cholesterol levels of respondents who were given red bean yoghurt and probiotic yoghurt (p = 0.00). Red bean yoghurt is effective in reducing cholesterol levels so that red bean yogurt can be used as an alternative treatment for cholesterol-lowering.

Abstract

Indonesia is vulnerable to various hydrometeorological disasters, such as floods, droughts, cyclones, erosion, as well as forest and land fires. Low welfare and human resources in the agricultural and fisheries sectors due to the threat of climate change, causing a decline in production. This will lead to a decrease in the level of social welfare. Adaptation efforts to climate change are important to reduce the risk of food insecurity and malnutrition. One of the right concepts to overcome the existing problems is a sustainable livelihood approach. So this study aims to describe climate change adaptation through a sustainable livelihood approach to reduce the risk of food insecurity and malnutrition in terms of meeting the needs for social, physical, human and financial capital. This article is a literature study by collecting a number of data and theories from books, magazines, reports and journals related to the problem and research objectives. The study concludes that adaptation to climate change with a sustainable livelihood approach can increase food security and family nutrition, through social capital, natural capital, human capital, financial capital. The government can consider implementing sustainable livelihood policies carried out by local governments and related stakeholders in improving the welfare of agricultural communities

Abstract

Poorly managed food organization can affect the quality of the menu served, especially in terms of flavor, variety, and portion size. This study aims to describe the food menu at the Yayasan Bening Nurani (YABNI) Padang Foster Home in 2025 in terms of flavor, menu variety, and portion size. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross sectional design conducted in July-August 2024. The sample consisted of 48 foster children. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and weighing of food ingredients for 7 days. Data were analyzed univariately and presented in frequency distribution and percentage. The results showed that 62.5% of foster children did not like the taste of food and 60.4% rated the appearance of food as unattractive. A total of 54.17% stated that food ingredients and processing were not varied, and 52.08% stated that the color and taste of food did not vary. In addition, the portions of staple foods, animal side dishes, vegetable side dishes, vegetables, and oil are not in accordance with the daily meal recommendations. It can be concluded that the flavors, menu variations, and food portions do not meet the recommended standards. Therefore, it is recommended that institutions improve food management by paying attention to flavor, variety of ingredients and processing, and portions that meet the needs of foster children.

Abstract

The health center which is the first referral must provide complete health services and quick action for disaster victims. The purpose of the activity is for participants to be able to understand the reduction of the risk of covid 19 disasters based on android. The method of activity is by providing training using the reduction of the risk of covid 19 disasters based on android. The results of community service show that most of the training participants are female (90%). Based on age group, the majority are in the age group over 35 years. As many as 60% are at the PT education level and half are health workers and half are health cadres. The evaluation showed that before being given training on disaster vulnerability management, the level of understanding of participants was high at 40% and the level of ability was high at 20%. However, after being given participatory mapping material, the level of knowledge of participants was high at 90% and the level of ability of participants was high at 95%. Conclusion: by preparing documents, evacuation planning, increasing public awareness, and preparing the health team well, we can improve the response and mitigation of the impact of disasters effectively
