Abstract

Indonesia is the third largest coffee producer in the world after Brazil and Vietnam with accounts for approximately 6% of total production world's coffee. The acreage of coffee in Indonesia is 1.305.895 ha with the production of 611,100 t ha-1. The production solid waste this reached about 48 percent total production of coffee. The content of potential organic element to improve Dau Inceptisol material was phosphorus and nitrogen. The purpose of this research was to know influence of application of coffee pulp compost on soil physical and chemical properties, and to know the influence of provision of coffee pulp compost to yield of broccoli. The application of coffee pulp compost 200% (30 t ha-1) increased organic matter content by 2.56% and total N content by 0.18 % on the application of coffee pulp compost (30 t ha-1). pH was highest on the application 200 % (30 t ha-1) compost with the value of 6.19. The highest P content was 26.64 t kg-1 by the application of compost 75 % (10 t ha-1) and the highest K content on the application 200 % (30 t ha-1) compost is 0.51 me 100 g-1. Application of 200% compost reduced the bulk density of Dau Inceptisol to 1.12 g cm-3, and increased soil porosity up to 50.03%. Application of compost which was able to increase aggregate steadiness to exist at the 200 % compost was 1.4 mm. In addition on the application of 50 % (7 t ha-1) compost produced plant height of 37.43 cm. Application 7 t ha-1 increased the yield of broccoli by 526.30 g plant-1.

Abstract

Sugar Research Center of PT. Perkebunan Nusantara X Jengkol, Kediri has a test plant with trash management system. The concept of trash management system is the return of sugarcane trash crop residues to soil. This study aimed to identify the effect of sugarcane trash and urea application on the availability of N In the soil andsugarcane growth at Sugar Research Center of PT. Perkebunan Nusantara X Jengkol-Kediri. Treatments tested in this studya were applicationa of urea at different doses, P1 (without urea), P2 (2 kg urea ha-1), P3 (3 kg urea ha-1), P4 (4 kg urea ha-1), P5 (5 kg urea ha-1), and P6 (6 kg urea ha-1) combined with the provision of 20 t sugarcane trash ha-1. Results of this study indicated that the treatment P1 (2 kg urea + 20 t sugarcane trash ha-1) had the highest N-availability value of  6.12 ppm NH4+ and 5.94 ppm NO3-. Application of area combined with sugarcane trash increased the plant’s heigh in every treatment. The best values were recorded the P1 treatment at 33, 35, 37 and 39 weeks with the plant height 258, 42 cm, 269, 57 cm, 287, 83 cm, 298, 67 cm, respectively

Abstract

Land use system is a system that leverages the potential of a land to make ends meet. The difference in land use will have properties of both qualitative as well as quantitative different including soil quality. The organic-C of soil is one of the impacts of different land uses. The number of inputs of organic matter will affect the aggregation process on the ground. High level low level inputs of organic matter and aggregate stability will affect the value of the weight of the contents. This study was carried out at the Tawangsari village, Pujon district, Malang  to elucidate the value of aggregate stability, soil saturated hydraulic conductivity and the nature of the relationship between them. The result value of the aggregate stability of natural forest land use had an average high of 3,79 mm, followed by land uses of forest plantation, fruit plantations and intensive farming. The result value was highest soil saturated hydraulic conductivity in protected forest, followed by the initial production, plantation forests and moorland. Agregate stability and soil saturated hydraulic conductivity had strong relation up to 40%.Â
