Abstract

Purposes of the research are: (1) to know effect of distilled-water use as an absorptive media on NOx emission of exhaust gas of motorcycle Honda Supra X 125 2012, and (2) to know effect of distilled water surface height on absorption of NOx emission of exhaust gas of  motorcycle Honda Supra X 125 2012. The research was an experimental method. Data analysis of the research was descriptive comparative analysis. Descriptive research method aims to describe and to interpret existing data attempting to seek problem solving through causal relationship, namely to examine particular factors related to investigated-situation or phenomenon and to compare one factor to another (Surakhmad, 1998: 139, 143). Results of the research conclude that: (1) there has been a decrease of NOx after the use of distilled water as an absorptive media of exhaust gas. Emission level of NOx without distilled water is greater than that of with distilled water. Mean difference between NOx emission without distilled water and one with distilled water at water surface height of 200 mm is 1.65 ppm. While, mean difference of NOx emission with water surface of 200 mm and that of 400 mm is 0.42 ppm. Further, for water surface height of 400 mm and 600 mm, the mean difference is 0.44 ppm; (2) there is effect of water surface height on power of absorbing NOx emission of exhaust gas. The higher distilled water surface height, the longer period of time the exhaust gas contact with water so that water-soluble NOx emission level is greater also. For water surface height of 400 mm, mean emission of NOx is 11.00 ppm and for water surface height of 600 mm, mean NOx emission is 10.56 ppm.

Abstract

In order to actualize the vision of National Development as stated in Law no. 17 of 2007 on the Long-Term National Development Plan of 2005-2025, one of the strategies of the Government of Indonesia is through the development of Special Economic Zones. The development of Special Economic Zones must be supported by advanced infrastructure and supporting utilities to accelerate the economy in the SEZ area. In addition, the development of SEZs also requires the provision of incentives needed to invest in SEZs. This study aims to describe the development of infrastructure, the utilization of fiscal incentives and the challenges faced in the development of the Galang Batang Special Economic Zone. This research occupies qualitative approach. The data was collected through literature review and in-depth interview. The result of research shows that infrastructure development in Galang Batang SEZ can be said to be running optimally with consistent and progressive development progress. In addition, various incentives and services provided by the government are able to attract Foreign Direct Investment which is reflected in the investment commitments that have been received by the Galang Batang SEZ. In its implementation, there are still several challenges in the development of the Galang Batang SEZ, both from internal government and external factors. Keywords : fiscal incentives; special economic zones; infrastructure

Abstract

Fuel oil (BBM) is a non-renewable fuel whose use has caused various negative impacts on the environment and society. As time goes by, fuel reserves in the world are also decreasing due to continuous extraction from nature. The government needs to implement policies that can control fuel consumption in order to reduce the negative impacts caused by fuel use while maintaining oil reserves available in nature. This research aims to analyze the potential and economic impact of implementing excise tax on fuel in Indonesia. Qualitative analysis was conducted by comparing fuel excise implementation in other countries and evaluating criteria for excisable goods. Quantitative analysis utilized potential analysis, excise instrument effectiveness analysis, and economic impact analysis using the Input-Output method across 185 sectors. The findings indicate that fuel exhibits inelastic characteristics, where a 1% increase in fuel prices results in a 0.04% decrease in demand. The implementation of fuel excise has the potential to increase state revenue by 7.84% to 23.51%. The resulting economic impacts include a reduction in final demand for fuel, an increase in fuel prices, and a reduction in pollutant emissions. Apart from that, the implementation of fuel excise also has an impact on increasing gross value added, worker compensation and business surplus.
