Abstract

Post partum experience physical and psychological changes that can be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Mothers who cannot adapt to the critical postpartum period can experience psychological disorders that also affect breast milk production. The design used was quasi experimental with a pre and post test approach with control group design. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling with a sample size of 60. The instruments used were the Breastfeeding Self Efficacy Scale-Short Form (BSES-SF) and the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS). The statistical tests used were the Mann Whitney test and the Wicoxon Signed Rank Test. The results of the analysis showed that health education with e-booklets had a significant effect on breastfeeding self-efficacy with a value of =0.039 (<0.05) and an average increase of 7.16 which was higher than the control group. Meanwhile, on the EPDS score, the group with the provision of health education with e-booklets decreased by 1.5 points on average and the results of the analysis showed a significant effect with a value of =0.002 (<0.05). In conclusion, the provision of health education with e-booklets has an effect on breastfeeding self-efficacy and EPDS scores. Suggestions for breastfeeding mothers to read e-booklets to increase mother's self-efficacy and reduce EPDS scores. Abstract

This literature review explores holistic approaches during pregnancy and their implications for midwifery practice. Holistic care addresses physical, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions of maternal health, aiming to promote overall well-being and positive pregnancy outcomes. By synthesizing evidence from studies published between 2020 and 2025, this review highlights the benefits of integrating holistic methods such as stress reduction techniques, nutritional support, psychosocial counseling, and culturally sensitive care within midwifery. The findings suggest that holistic care enhances emotional resilience, reduces anxiety and depression, and strengthens the mother infant bond. However, challenges remain in standardizing holistic practices, ensuring adequate training for midwives, and overcoming systemic barriers. The review underscores the need for midwives to adopt a comprehensive, woman centered approach supported by ongoing education and interdisciplinary collaboration. Future research should focus on evaluating holistic interventions’ effectiveness and developing scalable models to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes globally. Ultimately, holistic pregnancy care offers a promising framework to enrich midwifery practice and support maternal well-being throughout pregnancy.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of mindfulness in supporting maternal well-being. It adopts a qualitative research approach through a systematic literature review. The data used are secondary sources obtained from a variety of scientific materials, including indexed national and international journal articles, academic books, research reports, dissertations, theses, and official publications from related institutions. Scientific journal articles published between 2020 and 2025 are collected from leading databases such as PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, PsycINFO, and Google Scholar. Recent literature highlights mindfulness as a promising intervention to improve maternal well-being during pregnancy. It offers psychological benefits, supports physiological regulation, and strengthens the bond between mother and baby. mindfulness as a promising intervention to improve maternal well-being during pregnancy. It offers psychological relief, physiological regulation, and a stronger mother-baby connection. However, more rigorous, inclusive, and long-term research is needed to fully understand this potential and optimize its application in prenatal care. Although the benefits of mindfulness during pregnancy are promising, there are limitations in the amount of research currently available. Many studies rely on self-reported measures, which may be susceptible to bias. Sample sizes are often small and may lack diversity in terms of race, socioeconomic status, or previous mental health conditions. In addition, not all mindfulness interventions are standardized, which makes it difficult to compare results across different studies.
