Abstract

WWTP sludge which is the result of industrial wastewater treatment that has the potential for environmental pollution that must be managed by the industry concerned. utilization of waste sludge into briquettes can be an alternative that needs to be reviewed in order to improve energy efficiency. The purpose of this study was to determine the IPAL mud, fly ash, and wood sawdust can be used as alternative fuels in the form of briquettes, to determine the effect of variations of IPAL mud, fly ash, and wood sawdust on the quality of briquettes in the form of ash content and moisture content. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the raw materials for WWTP mud, fly ash, and wood sawdust can be used as raw materials for making briquettes according to SNI 4931-2010 with type B briquette classification. All briquettes produced are included in the set standards because all briquettes research results show a figure of <5% which is certainly below the established quality standard, which is 12% in each briquette produced. Briquettes of a mixture of sewage sludge, fly ash, and sawdust with a concentration of 40%: 30%: 30% and an adhesive percentage of 20% have the highest ash content in each percentage of molasses.

Abstract

One of the new problems that arise and can have a big impact on the environment and living things is food waste. Some activities that can produce food waste, one of which is buying and selling activities in traditional markets or supermarkets. The city of Surabaya has several traditional markets that produce food waste in several areas, such as the Soponyono market and the Pacar Keling market in the East Surabaya city area. Food supply materials that are no longer fit for sale and fit for consumption are immediately transferred to temporary disposal sites (TPS) and end up as food waste. In this study, the Soponyono Market produced an average of 52.126 Kg/day of food waste with the highest category being vegetables by 78% and the Pacar Keling market of 21.887 Kg/day with the highest category being fruits by 51%. The characteristics of food waste at the Soponyono market have a water content value of 88.73% water content and 3,231.09 Cal/gr calorific value. Whereas in the Pacar Keling market, the water content is 87.44% and the calorific value is 4,222.93 Cal/gr. In this regard, it is necessary to identify the quantity and characteristics of food waste in order to find out what processing is required according to the waste produced. So that waste can be processed into energy or new useful products. The identification effort was carried out using the SNI- 19-3964-1994 method, namely by weighing and sorting food waste until the quantity, characteristics, in the form of category scope and water content value, and calorific value were known. The Soponyono market is capable of producing more and more diverse food waste than the Pacar Keling market with a different scope of categories.

Abstract

In running the production process of this company requires a large volume of clean water. Meanwhile, the company's supply of clean water is only supplied by PDAM, second party supplies, and the results of the water treatment plant. This study aims to analyze the prediction of water demand for the balance between clean water suppliers and clean water demand based on increased production. This approach is carried out with a dynamic system model and with the help of stella 9.0.2 software. The methods used in this study are problem identification, making dynamic hypotheses, model validation, and model evaluation. from the simulation results show that the amount of production in years 2 to 10 has increased, namely in year 2 as much as 1396.41 tons and in year 10 it reached 1546.64 tons. in years 4 and 6 the water supply has decreased which is not proportional to the required water consumption. However, in year 6 to year 10, the volume of clean water supply continues to increase and has fulfilled the total volume of water demand. Therefore, a policy is needed to increase the supply of clean water from the PDAM or supply water from within the company itself, namely by expanding the land for water treatment plants or utilizing surface water sources, namely well water.
