Abstract

Mathematics is a subject that has an important role in human life. The goal of learning mathematics at school is an understanding of mathematical concepts. Students must have an understanding of mathematical concepts after the mathematics learning process takes place. Students who have an understanding of mathematical concepts will be able to explain related concepts and apply them. This study aims to develop a discovery-based method of learning using Geogebra and Assemblr Edu applications to understand geometric concepts in junior high school students. This study uses the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) model. Data collection was carried out by means of interviews and questionnaires. Media validation is based on material review experts and media experts. Data analysis technique by conducting qualitative descriptive analysis based on the validation of material experts and media experts. The average percentage score from material experts is 94.7% and the average percentage score from media experts is 95.8% indicating that the development of discovery-based method learning using the Geogebra and Assemblr Edu applications is feasible to use as an alternative solution to understanding geometry concepts in junior high school students. The author suggests that the learning media that has been designed can be tested on class IX junior high school students so that it can be useful for students to understand Geometry material. And in addition, further research can be carried out to determine the effectiveness of the learning media that have been made.

Abstract

Only 28% of students in Indonesia are capable of interpreting problems into mathematical models, due to their lack of understanding of basic mathematical concepts. The purpose of stimulating and guided training is to provide students with a good understanding of problem solving in mathematics. Based on this concept, the purpose of developing the Basic Mathematical Solution Application (SOLMATDAS) is to provide understanding to students with guided training using android as the medium. Media development follows the 4D methodology (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), with media and ICT validation by each expert and media effectiveness by learning participants. from the results of the validation test, the percentage of learning expert validation was 90% and ICT expert validation was 90.2%, so the media can be categorized as very valid and can be used as a learning media, whereas after dissemination and testing the effectiveness of the media in obtaining pretest and posttest scores it was carried out by teacher to students in one class. The results of processing the pre-test and post-test statistics obtained a significance value of 0.038, because the significance is less than 0.05 which means there are differences in learning outcomes using SOLMAT and direct learning. From these results it can be concluded that the use of the SOLMAT application can assist in advanced mathematics learning activities which requires an understanding of basic mathematical concepts.

Abstract

The rapid development of technology requires creative human resources to solve various mathematical problems. The importance of thinking creatively is contained in the Graduate Competency Standards (SKL). This study aims to determine the mathematical creative thinking skills of high school students in West Bandung using sequence and series materials. The research method used is the descriptive qualitative research method. The study was conducted on 35 class XI students at a high school in West Bandung. The instrument used is four items about the ability to think creatively on the material sequences and series. The research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2022-2023 school year. The results showed that the percentage of flexibility indicator questions was 61.143%, which means most students can work on questions with the flexibility indicator. The rate of fluency indicator items was 52%, the percentage of originality indicator items was 43.169%, and the elaboration indicator was 40%. These results show that the elaboration indicator has the rate percentage compared to other indicators of creative thinking ability. The study’s results concluded that the creative thinking skills of high school students in West Bandung Regency were still low, with a percentage of 49.19%. Researchers recommend using interactive learning media such as e-LKPD to improve mathematical creative thinking abilities.

Abstract

Numeracy ability has increasingly been recognized as a fundamental competence necessary for students to engage meaningfully with mathematics and real-world problem solving. However, many schools still struggle to cultivate strong numeracy due to the limited use of effective and innovative learning materials. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of EPUB-assisted teaching materials integrated with the MERRDEKA (Mulai dari diri, Eksplorasi konsep, Refleksi mandiri, Ruang kolaborasi, Demonstrasi, Elaborasi, Koneksi materi, dan Aksi nyata) learning flow in improving students numeracy ability. A quasi-experimental method was employed using a pretest-postest control group design. The participants consisted of students from classes XI-C and XI-D, totaling 72 students. Data were collected using a numeracy test as the primary quantitative instrument. The analysis involved calculating N-Gain scores and conducting an independent sample t-test to determine differences in learning improvement between groups. The result showed that the experimental class achieved an N-Gain score of 0.77 (high category), whereas the control class obtained an N-Gain score of 0.45 (medium category). In addition, the independent sample t-test yielded a significance velue of 0.001 < 0.05, indicating a significance difference in numeracy ability improvement between the two groups. Therefore, EPUB-assisted teaching materials integrated with the MERRDEKA learning flow are concluded to be effective in enhancing students numeracy ability.

Abstract

This study aims to develop Ruang GIRA (Geometry Interactive Reality Augmented), an Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning medium for polyhedra at the junior high school level, and to examine its feasibility and effectiveness in improving students’ mathematical communication skills and self-efficacy through the Discovery Learning model. The study was prompted by students' difficulties in visualising three-dimensional objects, which result in poor communication skills and reduced confidence when solving geometry problems. Ruang GIRA addresses this issue by providing an immersive learning experience that allows students to interact with virtual geometric objects, thereby bridging the gap between abstract concepts and visual representation. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method based on the ADDIE model, consisting of the following stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects were Year 9 students. The media's feasibility was validated by material and media experts, indicating its high feasibility. Students responded very positively, giving an average score of 3.43 out of 4, and the media's effectiveness was demonstrated by an N-Gain score of 0.68, categorised as moderate, indicating improvement in mathematical communication skills. Additionally, self-efficacy increased more significantly among students in the experimental class than in the control class. These findings suggest that Ruang GIRA is a feasible and effective innovative learning medium for teaching polyhedra. It supports students' conceptual understanding while enhancing communication skills and self-efficacy. Future research should focus on improving its features by integrating surface area and volume calculations and expanding its implementation to broader contexts and different educational levels.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in elementary schools requires learning experiences that encourage students to think creatively, solve problems, and participate in the learning process. However, students’ creative thinking skills and learning motivation are not yet optimal, while the use of interactive teaching materials that support meaningful learning remains limited. This study aims to develop Problem-Based Learning (PBL)-based teaching materials assisted by Wordwall and to determine their validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving students’ creative thinking skills and learning motivation. This study employed a Research and Development method adapted from the Borg and Gall development model. The development process included needs analysis, planning, product development, expert validation, field testing, product revision, and operational testing. The research was conducted at an elementary school. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, questionnaires, and creative thinking ability tests. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics to determine the quality and effectiveness of the developed teaching materials. The results showed that the developed teaching materials met the criteria of validity and practicality based on expert assessments, practitioner evaluations, and positive student responses. The effectiveness test showed that students who learned using the PBL-based teaching materials assisted by Wordwall demonstrated better creative thinking skills and learning motivation than students who experienced conventional learning. Therefore, the developed teaching materials are feasible, practical, and effective for supporting mathematics learning. The integration of Problem-Based Learning and Wordwall provides an interactive learning experience that can encourage students to develop creative thinking skills and strengthen their motivation to learn mathematics.
