Abstract

Pulmonary Tuberculosis (pulmonary TB) is an infectious airborne disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which affect the lower respiratory tract. Education level, smoking, income, and family history were known as risk factors for pulmonary TB. The purpose of this study was to determine the determinants associated with pulmonary TB in the outpatient department of Anutapura General Hospital, Palu. This research was an analytical study with a cross-sectional design. The independent variables in this study were the level of education, smoking status, income, and family contact history, while the dependent variable was pulmonary TB. We enrolled 43 respondents with accidental sampling method. Data analysis using univariate and bivariate analysis. The results showed that there was a relationship between education level and pulmonary TB (p = 0.024), smoking status and pulmonary TB (p = 0.004), income and pulmonary TB (p = 0.001), and family contact history with pulmonary TB (p = 0.001).There is a relationship between education level, smoking status, income, and family contact history with pulmonary TB. It is suggested to the health workers of RSU Anutapura Palu to increase understanding and knowledge of patients regarding the prevention and transmission of pulmonary TB disease.

Abstract

Gout arthritis is a progressive disease due to the deposition of monosodium urate (MSU) crystals in joints, kidneys, and other connective tissues as a result of chronic hyperuricemia. The purpose of this study was to compare uric acid levels in men and women aged 45-60 years. The type of research used in this research is observational analytic with a quantitative approach and the method used in this research is Enzymatic Colorimetric (Uricase). This method uses the aid of a spectrophotometer to measure uric acid levels. The spectrophotometer used in this research is Pentra C200.The results of the research conducted at the UPTD Balai LABKESDA Gorontalo Province showed that abnormal uric acid levels were more in men than uric acid levels in women where the abnormal number in men was 7 respondents and in women only 4 respondents. This is because men have a higher risk of developing gout compared to women whose risk will be the same as men when entering the age or period of menopause.

Abstract

Street food is widespread in the community, especially for street vendors. One type of food disorder is diarrhea. Diarrhea disorders remain a public health problem in developing countries, including Indonesia, because they always appear in the form of Extraordinary Events (KLB) and coincide with large deaths. This study aims to provide knowledge to the public about the dangers of food that have been contaminated with bacteria and diseases caused by bacteria that pollute food and beverages. The method used is the descriptive method. The knowledge test uses a questionnaire through pre-test and post-test. This activity was carried out for 1 week, starting from November 20 - 27, 2021, at Bulota Village, Gorontalo Regency. The results showed that from 30 samples, before being given counselling (pre-test) showed that 73.33% of the public did not know about the characteristics and dangers of bacterial contamination in food and beverages. Public knowledge increased from 26.66% to 85.71% who knew about the characteristics and dangers of bacterial contamination in food and snacks after being given counselling (post-test).

Abstract

Microbiology is the study of microorganisms which cannot be seen with the naked eye to examine what is contained in microorganisms. To see microorganisms, it is necessary to have gram stain which is one of the most widely used procedures to characterize many bacteria. This study aims to understand the chemical and theoretical basis for the differential staining procedure as well as the procedure for differentiating between the two main groups of bacteria namely gram positive and gram negative. The method used in this research is the experimental method. The experimental method is a method used in laboratory research. The purpose of this experimental method is to determine the consequences of a treatment given deliberately by the researcher. In addition, a qualitative descriptive approach was used to provide an overview of airborne bacteria by using the gram stain method. The results showed that samples of NA media in airborne bacteria were carried out using a microscope at 10x magnification, which aims to see the color of the bacteria, in the gram staining experiment that has been carried out produces a purple color. This shows that these bacteria are included in the gram-positive bacteria group, as well as the results of the type of bacteria obtained in the gram stain experiment, namely E. coli bacteria which has aform monobacillus.
