Abstract

Obat Pahit from Lingga Malay ethnic is a traditional medicine which has believed by the local people to maintain the body stamina (immunomodulators and antioxidants). This study aimed to investigate the effect of Obat Pahit Potion on kidney histological structure of white male rats (Rattus norvegicus). This research was an experimental study with a Randomized Complete Block Design consisted of 15 treatments and 3 replications. The experiment groups consisted of control groups (Stimuno, distilled water, and CMC-Na 1%) and three treatment groups of Obat Pahit Potion (Kalan, SP4, Linau) with 4 different dosages. The samples of a kidney of white rats were prepared for histological observation using paraffin method and Hematoxylin-Eosin staining. The results of this study showed that three kinds of Obat Pahit with four different dosages showed the expansion of glomerular cells on kidney tissue. Damage that occurs in the kidneys is still in small amounts and normal range which is less than 25%. The results of this study provide information for the society that the consumption of Obat Pahit Potion will not cause toxicity effect on the kidney.

Abstract

Herbal plants can be used as a treatment option, including the treatment of kidney disease. The administration of herbal remedies such as celery is a more natural and safe treatment healing alternative. The study aims to determine the effect of celery extract in repairing the damage to the kidney cells of aspirin-induced white mice. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 groups with 3 replications: K- (aspirin 12.6 mg/kg BW), K+ (feed normal), P1 (celery extract 200 mg/kg BW + aspirin 12.6 mg/kg BW), P2 (celery extract 100mg/kg BW + aspirin 12.6 mg/kg BW) and P3 (celery extract 50 mg/kg BW) + aspirin 12.6 mg/kg BW). From the results of observations on kidney histology of rats after giving aspirin, it is known that there is damage to the nucleus of cells undergoing pyknosis and swelling of the glomerulus, which is characterized by narrowing of the Bowman's space.  This suggests that the celery extract at a stratified dose may affect the histopathological kidney of aspirin-induced mice.

Abstract

Keberadaan tanaman obat di lingkungan rumah sangat penting, terutama bagi keluarga yang tidak memiliki akses mudah ke pelayanan medis. Tanaman Obat Keluarga (TOGA) merupakan beberapa jenis tanaman obat pilihan yang dapat ditanam di pot-pot atau di pekarangan rumah. Di Indonesia sebenarnya pupuk organik sudah lama dikenal para petani. Kebanyakan petani sudah sangat tergantung kepada pupuk buatan, sehingga dapat berdampak negatif terhadap perkembangan produksi pertanian. Usaha penghematan dan pengurangan pupuk buatan dapat dilakukan dengan pemanfaatan sumber hayati yang berpotensi sebagai pupuk hayati. Kuliah kerja nyata ini bertujuan untuk melakukan pembenahan terhadap beberapa dasawisma sekaligus mensosialisasikan cara pembuatan dan pengaplikasian bakteri fotosintesis (Synechococcus sp.) pada tanaman obat keluarga guna meningkatkan produktivitasnya. Program kerja pembuatan bakteri fotosintesis dimulai dengan melakukan sosialisasi kegiatan dan berdiskusi, kemudian melakukan praktek pembuatan bakteri fotosintesis (Synechococcus sp.) dan demplot aplikasi bakteri fotosintesis (Synechococcus sp.) yang berguna untuk mengetahui efektifitas dari bakteri fotosintesis. Dari program kerja yang telah dilakukan didapatkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pada bapak/ibu pengurus dasawisma sebagai sasaran sosialisasi yang dapat menjadi contoh kepada masyarakat umum. Disaat berlangsungnya kegiatan sosialisasi ini peserta sangat antusias dalam mempelajari pembuatan bakteri fotosintesis sampai pada aplikasinya terhadap Tanaman Obat Keluarga (TOGA) yang ada pada setiap dasawisma.

Abstract

The formation of a joint business group is based on the fact that there are many community members who want to start a business but do not have the capital and courage to do business. Community group empowerment activities have proven to be able to make the product better known, increase the number of orders and the income of group members. Virgin Coconut Oil is one example of coconut milk fermenting business for 24 hours to form VCO and dregs. This dregs is called blondo which can be converted into various kinds of processed products so as to reduce environmental pollution. The method used in its application is modeling, training and mentoring. Based on the results of these activities, community service activities have succeeded in improving the skills of KUB HRG BERJAYA members in producing innovative blondo-based foods, namely blondo sauce and blondo abon. Service activities have also succeeded in improving the skills of KUB HRG BERJAYA members in online marketing. Production and marketing assistance activities have also marketed many products. The result is an increase in the income of KUB and KUB members.

Abstract

Coffee is a drink that is very popular with the people of Indonesia and in other countries. Coffee has many benefits but on the other hand, coffee can also damage health, the dangerous content in coffee is caffeine and cafeeic acid. The effect of coffee consumption is still a matter of controversy, one of which is the effect on the kidneys because the kidneys are the main excretory organ for removing metabolic waste from the body. The kidney is the second organ after the liver, which is most often the target of damage by chemicals. This study aims to determine the effect of multilevel doses of white coffee on the histological picture of rats' kidneys. This research is a completely randomized design study with four 4 treatments and four 4 replications. Consists of K (distilled water), P1 (0.36 ml), P2 (1.08 ml) and P3 (2.16 ml). The results of this study showed that macroscopic observations of the administration of white coffee civet coffee solution with different doses showed that the kidneys looked normal. It is characterized by the shape of the kidney like a pea and brownish-red in color. The P0 group was significantly different from the P1, P2, P3 groups. The P1 group was significantly different from the P0 group and the P2 group, P3. The P2 group was significantly different from the P0, P1, and P2 groups. The P3 group was significantly different from the P0, P1, and P2 groups. This study concluded that white coffee in multilevel doses affects the histopathology of kidneys in rats.
