Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem that the Madrasah Head has a very important role in driving madrasah management so that it can run according to the various demands of society and the times. Therefore, the role of a successful madrasah head can be seen from the achievement of madrasah objectives, as well as the increased performance of educational staff within the madrasah environment. The purpose of this research is to find out the role of the madrasah head as a leader and as a manager in improving the performance of educational staff and what are the supporting and inhibiting factors faced by madrasah head in improving the performance of education staff. The type and approach used in this research is by way of field research with a qualitative descriptive approach. The object of this research is the role of the madrasa head as a leader and as a manager in improving the performance of teaching staff at MTsN 4 Tabalong and the research subjects are the head of MTsN 4 Tabalong, the deputy head of the curriculum section, the head of administration, the head of the library, and the security guard. Furthermore, the collection technique uses observation, structured interviews, and documentation. Then the data analysis in this study was carried out in three stages including data reduction, data presentation and conclusion/verification. The results showed that the role of the madrasa head as a leader in improving the performance of teaching staff at MTsN 4 Tabalong was by fostering discipline in the form of direction and supervision, providing motivation in the form of words of encouragement, rewards in the form of certificates, and perceptions in the form of facilitation. Meanwhile, the role of the madrasa head as a manager in improving the performance of teaching staff at MTsN 4 Tabalong is by empowering teaching staff through cooperation and coordination, providing opportunities for teaching staff to improve their profession with training, and encouraging the involvement of all educational staff in all madrasah activities by directing them to involved. The supporting factors carried out by the madrasa head in improving the performance of teaching staff at MTsN 4 Tabalong are responsibility for assignments, respect for assignments, and the work environment, and the inhibiting factors are time, social jealousy and opportunities for development.

Abstract

This research started from the writer's curiosity about the transformational leadership of madrasah principals performance at MAN 1 and 2 in Amuntai, Hulu Sungai Utara Regency. This type of research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. The data collection procedure in this study used observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the transformational leadership that takes place at the Head of MAN 1 and 2 in Amuntai can be seen from the ability of the Head of Madrasah to be a charismatic leader, able to demonstrate commitment to the goals of the madrasa, able to act as an enthusiastic motivator, and always exploring new ideas and solutions creativity of teachers and employees. Madrasah principals also always encourage teachers and employees to learn and practice new approaches, pay attention to needs and involve teachers and employees in decision making.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of supervision carried out by madrasa heads for teachers and the need for appropriate strategies to support its success. The aim of this research is to find out what the madrasa head's supervision strategy is for teachers and what the supporting and inhibiting factors are. The type of research used is field research with a qualitative descriptive approach. The research subjects were the head of the madrasa, deputy head of the madrasa for academic affairs and teachers. Furthermore, data collection techniques use observation, interviews and documentation. Then data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions/verification. The research results show that the Head of MTsN 4 Tabalong develops and guides teachers, provides information to teachers, and also builds a working network with stakeholders to collaborate to improve teacher quality. The madrasa head explains the role and targets to the maximum, carries out monitoring well and continuously, provides good support, provides motivation and inspiration to teachers, makes efforts to solve problems and provides solutions to teachers as a whole, so it can be concluded that the madrasa head's supervision strategy for teachers has been implemented well. The supporting factors are the teacher's condition, strong desire, and cooperative stakeholders. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are time, social jealousy, and low willingness to move on the part of some teachers.
