Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the role of parents in online learning during a pandemic for class IX Tsanawiyah DDI Gusung Makassar students and the factors that influence learning difficulties for class IX Tsanawiyah DDI Gusung Makassar students. The type of this research is qualitative research using descriptive method. The theory used in this study is a theory about the role of parents, online learning during a pandemic. Informants in this study were parents who had children who attended Tsanawiyah DDI Gusung Makassar. Stages in data collection namely; initial observation stage, research implementation stage, evaluation and report stage. The data analysis used is relevant research data by carrying out observation, interview and record collection techniques, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that parents play a role in providing encouragement, facilities or student needs during online learning, and motivation for their children in dealing with all online learning activities carried out during the pandemic period until the case of the decline in covid, but from this there are several factors that make children with learning difficulties. Factors that cause learning difficulties for class IX Tsanawiyah DDI Gusung Makassar students are the low income level of parents making it difficult to meet children's needs in the learning process at home, then environmental factors that make it difficult for children to concentrate on learning.
