Abstract

This research aims to know how Graphic Organizer Model Effects on Learners Writing Abilities which population of this research was the students of first-grade Mts. Mambaus Sholihin, there were 38 students. In this research, researchers used simple random sampling. The research method was a Pre-Experimental design conducted in one group pre-test and post-test. To analyze the data, the researcher used paired sample t-tests to determine whether there was a significant effect before and after treatment in the Experimental class. The Implication of this research is the Graphic Organizer Method's effectiveness in the students' descriptive writing in first grade in MTs. Mambaus Sholihin. The Originality of this research is that researchers used the Graphic Organizer method for practical Descriptive writing Students. The result showed that the experimental group scores significantly differed before or after being taught the Graphic organizer method. Based on the results of the pre-test and post-test with the comparison of the magnitude of t that we get in the manual counting (t0) = 12,59 and the magnitude of t listed in the table of values (t.ts.5% = 2.03), we can know that t0 is more significant than tt .2.03 > 12,59. So it can be concluded that the hypothesis is accepted or Ha is accepted, while Ho is rejected.

Abstract

While pesantren education has a strategic role in developing critical thinking and creative writing skills in Arabic, traditional approaches often lack relevance in the digital era. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of online project-based learning (PJBL) as an innovative approach to improve students' competencies. Using a quasi-experimental design with a non-randomized sampling method, this study involved students who participated in online PjBL learning. Data analysis was conducted through an ANOVA test to measure the improvement in critical thinking and creative writing skills. The results showed that online PjBL significantly improved critical thinking (p = 0.001) and creative writing (p = 0.000). Although effective, challenges such as limited technological infrastructure and teacher readiness remain obstacles. This study recommends that pesantren adopt technology-based learning methods to prepare students for 21st-century competencies. Further research is recommended to expand the scope of the area, increase the study duration, and involve government policy support, so that the results of applying this method can be more optimal and sustainable.

Abstract

Abstract

This study analyzes the learning strategy of Arabic speaking skills at the pesantren Mambaus Sholihin Gresik through the lens of Self-Determination Theory (SDT), identifying how peer tutors support relatedness, daily dialogue builds competence, interactive muhadathah facilitates autonomy, and a strict language environment inhibits psychological needs. Using a phenomenological approach with 12 purposive informants (2 Arabic teachers, 2 managers, 8 students), data collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation (15 sessions), and documentation, analyzed with SDT-based phenomenological reduction. The findings show that optimal peer tutors meet relatability (reduction of language anxiety), daily dialogue develops competence through mastery experiences, while interactive sessions increase autonomy. A tight pedagogical environment cultivates controlled motivation, thereby inducing speech anxiety and consequent avoidance behavior in extramural contexts. The research produced a Hybrid Autonomy-Supportive Environment Model replacing punishment with Arab Challenge Reward, progressive scaffolding, peer autonomy networking, and the theme of student choice is more impactful for sustainable speaking competence. This model revolutionized Arabic language pedagogy from the practice of a repressive language environment to an SDT-based strategy, optimal for the motivation and fluency of students in the digital era.

Abstract

Mastery of Arabic speaking skills (maharah al-kalam) represents a central objective in language education. Yet, it remains particularly difficult to achieve in non-native learning contexts, where learners frequently experience low self-confidence and anxiety about making errors. Although Project-Based Learning (PjBL) has been conceptually recognized as a learner-centered approach capable of addressing both linguistic and affective challenges, empirical investigations examining its combined influence on speaking proficiency and self-confidence among female Arabic learners in Indonesia are still limited. This study examined the effectiveness of the PjBL model in improving Arabic speaking skills and self-confidence among female students enrolled in an Arabic Language Education program. A quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design was employed, involving 40 participants divided into an experimental group (n=20) and a control group (n=20) over a six-week instructional period. Data were gathered through speaking performance tests and self-confidence questionnaires administered before and after the intervention, and analyzed using t-tests and the Mann–Whitney U test. The results indicated that the experimental group achieved greater gains than the control group, with a moderate improvement in speaking skills (N-Gain = 0.53) and a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.45). Additionally, students’ self-confidence increased significantly from a low to a high level. These findings confirm that PjBL is an effective instructional approach for simultaneously enhancing Arabic speaking competence and learner self-confidence.
