Abstract

ABSTRACTOne of the changes that occur due to the process of pregnancy in pregnant women is hematological changes such as a decrease in hemoglobin levels in pregnant women caused by the process of hemodilution with a volume of 30-40% during pregnancy and ending at week 32-44 of gestational age So that it requires special attention in fulfilling nutritional intake, because if it is not fulfilled it will be able to cause a decrease in hemoglobin levels and cause anemia The purpose of the study was to determine whether there was an effect of giving  bean juice to prevent anemia in pregnant women. This research method is Pre-experiment with Quasi experimental design method, namely two group pretest - postest. The sampling technique is a purposive sample of 22 people with the inclusion criteria set, the intervention given in accordance with the SOP and the Hb level is measu with an easy touch tool. Data analysis consisted of bivariate with pai sample t-test. And the results of the study with a Pvalue of 0.000 < (0.05), it was concluded that there was a difference in the increase in haemoglobin levels in the experimental group. And there is a significant difference in  bean juice on the increase in haemoglobin levels with a Sig value. (2-tailed) of 0.000 is smaller than alpha 0.05 (p<α 0.05).

Abstract

Pregnancy and childbirth are extraordinary physiological experiences but can also be a source of psychological stress for women, especially for primigravidas who have no previous experience. Fear of childbirth often arises from uncertainty about pain management, concerns about the fetus's condition, and a lack of adequate information. This condition results in increased stress, sleep disturbances, and even mild depression, which can affect the mother's physical and mental readiness for childbirth. This study aims to analyze the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on fear of childbirth in primigravida mothers. The type of research used is an experimental study with a pretest-posttest without a control group. The sample consisted of third-trimester primigravida pregnant women who met the inclusion criteria, using a purposive sampling technique. The intervention in the form of progressive muscle relaxation exercises was given for 2 weeks at a frequency of three times per week and independent practice at home. The research instruments used were the Wijma Delivery Expectancy/Experience Questionnaire (W-DEQ), a demographic and obstetric history questionnaire, and a compliance sheet. Data analysis used dependent and independent t-tests. The results showed a significant decrease in fear of childbirth scores after progressive muscle relaxation with a p-value of 0.001. In conclusion, progressive muscle relaxation training is effective in improving the physical and psychological readiness of primigravida mothers for childbirth. This study recommends that health workers, particularly midwives, integrate progressive muscle relaxation training as a non-pharmacological intervention in prenatal classes.

Abstract

Obesity is becoming one of the main factors in the increase in non-communicable diseases globally. In Indonesia, the prevalence of central obesity at 15 years and over continues to increase. The increase in visceral fat is related to abnormal metabolisms, such as a decrease in glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity, causing an increase in blood sugar levels, a risk factor for diabetes. To predict the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus, the abdominal circumference is a better predictor than BMI against type 2 diabetes mellitus. This study aims to determine the relationship between abdominal circumference to blood sugar levels in young women. This research is an observational analytical study using the cross-section method. Sampling in this study used a consecutive sample, which was taken based on inclusion and exclusion criteria in the population. The overall subjects of the study amounted to 70 respondents. The results showed a meaningful relationship between the abdominal circumference and fasting blood sugar levels (p = 0.000) with a moderate correlation (r = 0.440) and a significant relationship between abdominal circumference to blood sugar levels 2 hours after glucose loading (p = 0.030) with a weak correlation (r = 0.259). This study concluded that there is a relationship between abdominal circumference and blood sugar levels using an oral glucose tolerance test in young women. As a recommendation, young women should maintain their lifestyle and keep their abdominal circumference not exceeding 80 centimeters to prevent diabetes.

Abstract

Abstract

Gestational diabetes is a glucose intolerance disorder that arises during pregnancy and is one of the most common obstetric complications globally. Its increasing prevalence is closely linked to high rates of obesity, unhealthy dietary patterns, physical inactivity, and advanced maternal age, particularly in developing countries like Indonesia, which still face limitations in screening and maternal healthcare services. This condition has both short-term and long-term impacts, including an increased risk of type 2 diabetes in both mothers and their children. This article presents a systematic literature review of preventive and therapeutic strategies for managing gestational diabetes, evaluating their effectiveness and potential for implementation. The method employed is a qualitative descriptive literature review, based on scientific articles from the past decade, obtained from databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Garuda. The review findings indicate that the most effective preventive strategy is lifestyle modification, such as adopting a healthy diet and engaging in light physical activity, especially when implemented early in pregnancy or even before conception, which can reduce the risk of gestational diabetes by up to 25%. Therapeutic strategies include medical nutrition therapy, the use of insulin or metformin, self-monitoring of blood glucose, as well as education and psychosocial support. The use of digital technologies, including mobile applications and telehealth services, has also been shown to improve patient adherence and engagement. A holistic approach that integrates both preventive and therapeutic efforts continuously is considered the most effective in reducing complications and long-term risks. However, challenges such as limited access to healthcare services, low health literacy, and a shortage of trained healthcare personnel remain obstacles in Indonesia. Therefore, cross-sector collaboration among healthcare professionals, families, and policymakers is crucial to optimize the contextual and sustainable management of gestational diabetes.
