Abstract

Kamal District has a mangrove ecosystem area which is a habitat for marine life, including crabs. This study aims to determine the association of Crabs with Mangroves in Kamal District, Bangkalan Regency, Madura. This research uses quantitative methods with the type of survey research and the technique used is purposive sampling. The sampling method uses ladder transect. Based on the results, mangrove data were obtained which were classified into 4 families, 4 genera and 7 species. While crabs consist of 2 families, 4 genera and 4 species. The average value of the mangrove ecological index consists of a diversity index of 1.28 in a medium category, a uniformity index of 0.66 in a high category and a dominance index of 0.32 in a medium category. The average value of the Crab ecological index consists of a diversity index of 1.24 in a medium category, a uniformity index of 0.89 in a high category and a dominance index of 0.32 in a medium category. The result of the ꭓ2 test are that there are 4 positive associations, 2 negative associations and 22 no associations.

Abstract

Pangandaran Regency has a very large marine area with the potential for diverse marine biota. To determine the diversity of species in the Teleostei, Elasmobranchii, Malacostraca, and Cephalopoda classes landed at landing sites (TPI) in Pangandaran Regency, research was conducted at three stations, namely TPI Bojongsalawe, TPI Batukaras, and TPI Pangandaran. The research used descriptive quantitative methods with survey techniques, while sampling marine biota used purposive sampling techniques. There were 90 species of marine biota identified from the three stations in the Teleostei, Elasmobranchii, Malacostraca and Cephalopoda classes. The diversity index was highest at TPI Bojongsalawe with a value of 2.85. The diversity index was lowest at TPI Batukaras with a value of 0.03. The uniformity index was highest (0.68) at TPI Bojongsalawe and lowest at TPI Batukaras (0.02). The dominance index was highest (0.99) at TPI Batukaras, and lowest at TPI Bojongsalawe (0.11). The species that dominated the landings at TPI Batukaraswas Triciurus sp., so that the diversity index at TPI Batukaras was in the low category.
