Abstract

The purpose of this study is to increase the motivation of chemistry learning with the application of Problem Based Learning model, so it can improve the student’s achievement in chemistry. This study is a classroom action research with subjects of class XI IPA 8 students at SMA N 1 Bantul in the first semester of 2016/2017 academic year. The subject were 34 students that consists of 14 boys and 20 girls. The data collection was done by using daily journal observation sheets, student questionnaire, interviews, documentation and testing. Descriptive data were analyzed qualitatively through severel stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study is that model Problem Based learning can improve motivation and learning achievement at equilibrum chemical concept. To Increase The Result of Student’s Learning Equilibrum Chemical Concept Via PBL’s Learning Model (Problem Based learning) the average of the student study result in the first cycle is 77,70, the second is 86,90. The second cycle showed 94.11% met the criteria studied thoroughly with the value of more than or equal to 75 of more than 85%. In conclusion, the use of model Problem Based Learning can improve motivation and learning achievements of learners and teachers can develop and implement the model of learning in the classroom.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the investigative skills and scientific attitudes of students in class XI IPA 5 at SMAN 1 Bantul for the academic year 2019/2020 through the application of problem based learning (PBL). This study uses a classroom action research method. The research procedure used is a model developed by Kemis and Taggait which consists of planning, action, observation and reflection activities. The subjects of this study were students of class XI IPA 5 at SMAN 1 Bantul in the academic year 2019/2020, totaling 32 students. This research was conducted in 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of 2 meetings. Research data obtained from observations and interviews. The data analysis used is descriptive analysis technique. The implementation of problem based learning in cycle I was 80, 5%, and in cycle II was 86%. Based on the results of observations, the value of students' investigative ability in the first cycle was 69.41 with low criteria, increased in the second cycle to 85.06, with good criteria. The scientific attitude of students also increased from 73.57, with sufficient criteria in cycle I, to 86.74 with good criteria in cycle II. Based on the research results, the problem based learning process can improve students' investigative skills and scientific attitudes.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research that aims to determine the application of the Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) learning model in improving students' motivation and learning outcomes in electrolyte and non-electrolyte solution materials . This research is divided into two cycles consisting of planning, action, observation and reflection stages. The research data collection techniques are as follows: initial observations, observations of teacher activities, questionnaires for student motivation and responses. The data analysis technique is qualitative. The results of the study describe an increasing in student motivation and learning outcomes. Teacher activities were carried out well from 83% (good) to 86.7% (very good). Student motivation has increased from 83% to 86% high motivation. Student learning outcomes increased from 69.4% to 89% (completed). The conclusion of this study describes that the application of the Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) learning model can increase the motivation and learning outcomes of students in class X IPA 5 at SMA N 1 Bantul effectively.
