Abstract

This work focuses on the manufacture of self-locking pavement from a mixture of river sand and waste from the recovery of plastic film packaging of the cookie and confectionery JB and wastes plastic bags collected at the university campus of Vontovorona. The sand is sifted to select the appropriate granulometry, which is higher than 0.5 mm on the one hand, and that is lower than 0.5 mm on the other hand. The sand with a grain size greater than 0.5 mm is mixed with the plastic waste in accordance with the manufacturing dosage. Different proportions of sand/plastic waste ranging from 40/60 to 70/30 have been prepared. The absorption rate increases with the proportion of sand added. This is true for both types of plastic waste. This absorption rate is increased for the pavers with plastic bag waste as binders. For the latter, the lowest rate of 2.2 is close to the highest rate of 2.1 for paving stones with JB plastic packaging waste as binders. The obtained pavers have a good mechanical strength higher than 12,000 daN.

Abstract

The present study concerns the design and manufacturing of a mobile electric alembic, for its use in the distillation of three essential oils (EOs). The design was based on thermodynamic and fluid mechanics calculations to establish the sizing of the device. The heating source used is electricity using electrical resistors.  Tests were carried out to verify the ability of the alembic to extract some essential oils (Eos) from aromatic plant, such as Cinnamomum camphora, Cymbopogon citratus, Corymbia citriodora. The EO yields obtained were comparable to those described in the AFNOR. The results of the Gas Chromatography analysis were similar to the published data.

Abstract

The Malagasy Phaseolus vulgaris L varieties analyzed in this study showed the presence of high nutritional elements, particularly protein levels of 20.3899%; 21.3130%; 20.6173%; 23.0134%; 21. 7245%; 21.3049% respectively for the six varieties 55(B), RI 5-2, CAL 98, Ran'omby 1, RI 5-3, Ran'omby 4, as well as carbohydrate contents ranging from 57.4657% for Ran'omby 1 to 65.1171% DM for CAL 98. The presence of essential mineral elements for human nutrition (iron, zinc, magnesium, calcium, potassium, sodium, phosphorus...) and phytochemical families reveal its virtues as a food. This means that Phaseolus vulgaris L is a complete human food.

Abstract

Beet (Beta vulgaris L.) is a vegetable, but its sweet taste prompted us to explore its use in wine-making. After TXRF analysis and phytochemical screening, the richness in micronutrients and chemical families of its pulp and peel led to the use of whole beet in the winemaking process. The temperature observed in each trial is well within the temperature range for red winemaking (22.0°C- 28.8°C). the pH decreases as a function of fermentation time, due to ethanol production and the consumption of part of the malic acid by the yeasts. The pH of musts and wines is generally between 3 and 4. The conversion of sugar is not total for all the trials but we can say that the fermentation is accelerating. There is still a small sugar-to-alcohol conversion scale equal to 0.2%. During the fermentation, the alcoholic strength depends on the type of hydrolysis used and the rate of glucose release. The values of the total acidity in H2SO4 were found to range from 3.867 to 4.586. According to the results of the analyses carried out, the physico-chemical characteristics of the beet wine comply with European regulations. The vinasse was recycled and underwent a composting process. The C/N ratio (15.16), P (0.95%), Ca (3.05%), Mg (2.25%), K (5.16%) and Na (0.24%) contents were determined. The vinasse compost was used to prepare a beet nursery, and then allowed the young plants from the nursery to grow normally. Beet farming in a zero-waste circular economy.
